Z31 / Vg30e Heads On Z32 / Vg30de Block?
« on: 10:40:39 AM / 28-Jan-08 »
VG30E Heads on a VG30DE Block, will they line up? I know the internals will work, but theres a Z32 NA motor that I can get for $150 and i just wana know how much of it I can really use?

i think puting the dual cam heads on the single cam block would be a better combination, but i havent seen the inside of both motors, so i dont know if it would line up, $150 for a motor sounds like a good deal, if it runs. i say buy it, try it, let us know

The heads don't interchange.  The vg30e block is just as strong as the vg30de.  You could swap the internals, but the vg30de internals are no stronger(if not weaker) than the vg30e internals.  Also vg30dett pistons in a vg30et lower the compression.  Using the vg30de rods as well may avoid this, but I'm not sure, I believe the compression difference comes from the block heights.

The vg30de does bolt right in place of the vg30e, but you would also have to get the wiring and accesories that go along with a motorswap.

ok, I saw one out at LKQ(of course when i was there after posting this, it was gone, along with a parts S12  ) I was trying to find Engloids's stuff on the VG30, but couldn't find it till later...

If I find another, I may grab it... iirc Engloids info said some of the rotating assembly would interchange. I duno if it said it was any stronger, but said that it had oil squirters and other things that the 30E didn't have... saying that the rotating assembly could be pushed harder and longer...

I would love to try a VG30DE into there, but i have large arms and the VG30E is a tight enough fit(if the starter goes bad, im selling lol jk) someone had a post of that somewhere on here...

The vg30e has oil squirters in the rods that squirt the bottom of the piston.

Anyone interested in turbocharging their vg? Shoot me a PM. Buck Ofama

I found some more info from here, in the rotating assembly section http://www.redz31.com/turbofaq/turbo.faq.htm
vg30e and vg30de rods are both forged, pistons are both cast, and cranks are both nodular iron.  Some people have debated about the vg30dett crank be stronger, but there's been no real proof.  It requires a few modifactions to fit and a custom crank pulley(or adapter) and it just doesn't seem worth while.  The stock vg30e internals are strong enough, Mark86T is making over 400hp on stock internals.
