Has any of the numerous people who've done a ka24de swap kept the a/c and made it work?  Or does nobody bother in the name of weight loss...it gets pretty hot here so I'd like to keep mine working.

Where is "here"? You need to update your location in your profile anyways, but by all means enlighten us as to where you're at.

I want to do the same thing with my KA24DE.. I need to get all the A/C crap that goes in the dash, and run the hoses through the firewall. My S12 never had A/C, so there are rubber grommets plugging the holes in the firewall.

Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.
i dont own a s12 at the moment but trying to acquire one to get rid of my s13 hatch

Mine has always worked.
I put my s12 compressor on my ca-det swap....just working out the pulley issues since my s12 pulley was v-belt style, and the det is serpentine style.  Think I found a pulley that will work....but in anycase I have seen on Nico that people have put ka compressors on their ca-dets......so if that is true, I would think that a s12 ca compressor would bolt to a ka

you can just hybrid the lines or worst case make new lines?

seems that would be easiest as you wouldnt have to worry about pullies and belts

There, Updated. Yeah Wenatchee can get real hot...a/c works great in my s12, and yeah im sure youre right. Hybrid lines would be worst case scenario.

Hate to awaken a dead thread but has anyone done this yet?  Is there even enough room for the compressor?  I'm sure the lines would just need new fittings made to mate to the KA unit.

What exactly did you need to do to make it work?  Enlighten us.

My s12 would have working a/c.....if I could get the darn thing to even start.  You whould be able to take the lines from the compressor off your s12, snag a set off of an s13, take both of them to a welding shop and tell them you want the s13 ends on the s12 lines.  thats how I got the a/c working in my old '90 240 when i swapped in an sr
