Kustas Project: CA18DET #2
« on: 01:57:33 PM / 31-Jan-09 »
I got this car a year ago for a project/fun car to work on when Im bored....

mods to date:
- 17" adr's, tenzo r seats (not comfy!), useless A/F and a boost gauge in the A-Pillar, dsm IC with custom piping, turbo smart bov, manual boost controller (was running 9-10psi), T25g turbo upgrade, intake, 3" exhaust (no cat), MSD blaster dual coil mod.......uhhh thats all I can think of right now

CAR AS OF NOW (well a few months ago when I was driving it):

SO this car is still waaaay too slow for my liking plus with mediocre compression test #'s I figure its time for a rebuild or swap...

I have a buddy that crashed his silvia (those in the ca18det forum know of this already)....so I figured I would buy his whole car....its a ca18det w/ about 50,000km on it..good compression (so Im told)....FMIC/piping, SSQV bov, disco potato (not sure the a/r or trim yet), hks wastegate, hks intake.....etc.......getting this for 1000 bucks seems decent to me!

SO this car is getting here today....I will post pics.....this is my first true swap....Ive done a buncha rebuilds of 22RE's in my 3rd Gen Celica loving days....but this will be my first true swap.....compared to a lot of ppl on this site my car knowledge blows goats (some of you are crazy!).....but I know enough that Im confident in this swap....so Im excited and cant wait to be swearing and getting frustrated as hell when shit doesnt work! w00t

Pics to come this afternoon of the Silvia/Ca18det

Do ur valve covers up like this except sand out the fine tool scratches and polish em.  All I did was strip and clean them.

lol really? I thought your covers were painted silver....thats pretty cool....

I did that to a 22re valve cover when I rebuilt the engine..well it wasnt painted...but I polished it...I love the look of the clean pure metal...I think I have a pic somewhere *goes to find*

(excuse the blue....this was like 8 years ago when adding useless color wasnt as rice haha)

as you can see.....this is what I mean with my OCD....I cleaned the hell outta that engine!

whats your suspension setup? you car has a perfect stance

i like how it sits. not retardly low, but just enough to close up the fender gap and make it look more sporty.

Yeah. The rest of the world got the turbo while we got the VG.

I like the clever way you put the I.C. in. And the vent on the hood is super tight.
