VG's have far more grunt in the low end.  Gobs of torque and the extra displacement more than makes up for the tiny weight penalty.  By far the best N/A engine in this chassis.  EE headers and some mild port-work...  Mmmmm.

You kids with the four-bangers have to wind em pretty tight to compete and that is with a turbo.

They were designed for a 510 VG conversion, but fit an s12 like a glove.  Scroll down to "Cermachromed Headers"

lolwut?
MAYBE 10-15 hp. and 10-15 ft lbs of torque at 2k between the two IF the VG is healthy enough.
Sure you'll feel it. But it's not even close to what it should have with it's 2 more cylinders and .6 liters. Then add XX(X?) weight? Tch. It's a horse a piece.

OP. Don't let the elitists bother you. You won't hear a single complaint from me if you oust that crappy engine. It's just a V shaped CA20E with 2 more cylinders and stronger rods.
Also, the SE isn't really "Sought after" per say. It's just more "attractive" than the rest of the line-up of the not really sought after and pretty much ignored S12 chassis. It's making it's comeback though.

All of my torque just before 3,000 rpm is why the engine is nice.  Needing the engine wound up to 6,000 all the time is not my idea of fun.

although, that 510 VG swap is probably the most realistic numbers for a used motor, it's shouldn't be expected for ALL motors as a baseline of what to expect out of it.

That s14 dyno run was done in '03.  the s14 stopped production in 98/00, so being a nissan motor, was probably even hardly broken in and gave "high" numbers.  So... it's really not fair to compare new engine dyno numbers to old engine dyno numbers.  Find some beat to shit ka's to compare to your beat to shit vg's ;)

Yeah 160whp for a stock engine that Nissan claims produces 155chp. Somethings not adding up here, even if the engine was basically brand new.
FIrst my rims are horrible, than there ok when painted black , now my cars horrible, now my fenders are to much after i was told i couldnt do it.... Lol club s12 ftw.....  Only here have Ive been told they look like shit..... SOrry its not bone stock with crown vic rims running the stock vg making 130whp and looks generic like every other one. My car looks dope ive been told this a billion times on local forums....

Thats why i prefer women who are below driveing age.

every time you see a post about someone with a 18et you immediately jump all over it and shit on it.

I don't need to wind up my SR to make torque, I have 7PSI by 2500RPM and 15PSI by 3000... So basically I have about 250WTQ by at least 3k!

Hell, I don't even make power after 6.5k, peak HP at 5.5k... Seems pretty frickin awesome to me!

Of course I've put a good chunk of time into tuning it too, OEM torque curve was kinda poop, but it still made a ton of torque down low.

It ain't a Honda, ya know. :p

The SR is a time bomb, most don't live over 250whp for very long.

I'll take you up on that Sam, as soon as my suspension is figured out :)  Though, to be honest, I don't have a lot of seat time in AutoX and experience plays a big part of times.

Bah, that's BS. I've been pushing mine for 4 years now and never a problem, aside from a damaged ringland because that cylinder wasn't getting any water from the water injection.

They only blow up because dumb asses overrev them and use SAFCs to tune them.

gtfo. seriously. right now.
looks like you've been hanging out with schizo too long. he's starting to rub off on ya

The SE isn't THAT rare, and the VG30E isn't THAT good of a motor.
Maybe he just wants some aftermarket support? It's his car, and he'll do whatever he wants with it.

Meh, the VG30 is a great motor, it was designed as a turbo motor, so in an NA application it's a dog.  but it's still less of a dog than a ka or an sr.  stock for stock, NA to NA... the VG is better and more powerful motor.  Add boost, and not only is the VG better, but it'll make more power, and do it more reliably.  People are just too cheap to do it, and do it right.

I know someone who had a turbo KA or SR in his 510, can't remember which, but he swapped it out for an NA vg30.  sure, didn't quite make as much power, but he said the car was much more fun to drive.

Take your turbo and go sit in the corner for an hour and think about how fucking stupid you just made yourself look.   LOL
