newb with an s12
« on: 11:44:13 AM / 15-Jul-12 »
hey all whats up? my name is blaine im a paratrooper at fort bragg nc and i just bought my first s12 i have always been into drifting and older jap cars i have owned 5 cressidas and 3 rx7s old corollas so i found the s12 appealing because its semi old school. im buliding a car thats mainly a daily driver that looks nice and i slide on the weeekends so it should serve its purpose.i picked it up for 800 bucks too, anyways onto the pics

when i first got it home

i cut the springs a little bit just the dead coils til i pick up s13 fronts and also added a volvo lip

i found a hatchback in a local junkyard and got the headlight buckets off it and sideskirts so its slowly coming together

well ill put more pics up as i work on it i ordered 2 diamond racing wheels for now gonna get the next 2 next paycheck, they are 15x8 0 offset. let me know what yall think

Welcome to the club and thanks for jumping out of airplanes for us. My dad used to own LJ Engineering, the company that makes the AR2 automatic rip cord release - you guys use that? BTW car looks really straight.

Holy shit that's clean! VERY nice! Ride height is good, but cut springs FTL... although I get the idea you know that and have a plan so I'm sure it's gonna be great :D Welcome to Club-S12

THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.
i dont own a s12 at the moment but trying to acquire one to get rid of my s13 hatch

hahah see my tagline, I have a quote from someone on here along those lines... S13 has a better rear end design but it's still not as 80's-tastic cool as our cars :P

I see this a lot.. and don't understand, but what's the purpose of tape on the headlights?

I think the idea is if they crack, the glass will stay mostly intact rather than fall all over the track. Clearly on a street car its just aesthetic.

That's what I was guessing too, but really, why are you drifting/racing in the day time with your headlights up?  If you wreck bad enough that you happened to need tape to hold the glass together, there are going to be other issues, like coolant.  Sorry to go so OT!

Yea thanks for all the welcoming comments fellas yes the tape is usually for track purposes but my buddy snuck it on there at a car meet lol. I can't wait to get my wheels in later this week I'm excited. The reason it was so cheap was it wouldnt rev past 4 thousand well I went out in the yard flipped the coil wires and bam!!! Running car lol it's in great shape and I love old school rides and no I will not be going s13 in the rear I like it the way it is just want coilovers on the front and adjustables on the rear

Volvo lips are the best just cut to fit on pretty much any car lol. I don't like the way the factory lips fit they leave that opening... I have side skirts to put on I'll get pics up when I get the chance been at the range shooting all day today time is somethin I never have enough of.
