[Today at 09:29:14 PM] JonB: Pontiac*

[Today at 09:29:43 PM] SchizophrenicMC: Fuck me

[Today at 09:29:59 PM] SchizophrenicMC: With some doing, even the Jeep can be made to drop below 3k

[Today at 09:30:38 PM] JonB: I got aluminum heads, intake, headers, and a tilt on starter, but that's about all I can do for making the v8 lighter itself

[Today at 09:30:54 PM] SchizophrenicMC: Like, a stock 2WD Grand Cherokee Laredo weighed 3500

[Today at 09:31:10 PM] SchizophrenicMC: That's with automatic and the interior all intact, a/c and all

[Today at 09:31:21 PM] JonB: Also 13 lbs flywheel, but added 25lbs to the trans for another gear

[Today at 09:32:28 PM] JonB: The firebirds weigh about 3700, the camaros with their smaller chevy motor weigh about 3500

[Today at 09:32:28 PM] SchizophrenicMC: Use the aluminum housing axle, swap to manual trans, some lighter wheels, and no spare tire, and you'd probably be right at 3k in the Grand

[Today at 09:33:23 PM] JonB: So I'm basically looking to loose 700lbs

[Today at 09:33:45 PM] SchizophrenicMC: Actually, thinking about it, Grand Cherokees are surprisingly light

[Today at 09:34:03 PM] SchizophrenicMC: Like, for its considerable size, my Jeep's right over 4k lbs

[Today at 09:34:12 PM] SchizophrenicMC: And it's 4x4

[Today at 09:35:05 PM] SchizophrenicMC: Gonna watch some more Eureka SeveN now. I'm addicted.

[Today at 09:35:17 PM] JonB: Ok later

I dont recall if S12's got a bitching betty, bit I figured Ill post this over here too since its kinda cool lol
also for some technical reference if anyone wanted to add one. Ill be wiring this one up in my 510 just for nostalgia lulz

So in 82 or so Datsun/Nissan added an audible warning system to some models like the 810 Maxima, the 280zx and the Z31 300zx.

instead of dings you get "Left door is open," "Right door is open," "Parking brake is on," "Fuel level is low," "Keys in the ignition," and "Lights are on".

This was some top of the line shit back then haha and seeing as it was before the age of digital recordings...
what did Nissan do?

They created a mini phonograph!

it uses a 3 inch white plastic record cut with six grooves, one for each command.
With a stylus that drops in the correct groove for each command.

I took mine apart to snap some pics of the inner workings  for teh lulz

I'd heard this was how it worked, but I always wondered what it looked like. Thanks for the pictures Skib.

i had a friend who was a service manager for nissan back in the 80's and he special ordered a right hand drive 1983 280zx. it was set-up just like any 280zx brought to the states except it had the JP "bitching betty" and i remember him getting it changed and throwing out the JP one

I have always loved taking stuff apart to see how it works. 1st did it at 6 yrs old to my dad's wind up alarm clock. Favorite toy at that age was Mister Machine - you other old guys probably had one, you youngsters need to google it to see how cool it is. BTW old guys you can buy a new MM for about $100; someone is using the original stuff to make them again for Boomers. Thanks loads Skib for this info!!

Nice. Now, would that be able to be added to a '87 S12?

Seeing since I had 2 '82 200sxs... that were SUPPOSED to have it, but they never worked. :(

yeah you can.

just depends if you want to go threw the work of wiring it haha.

Im going to put it in my 510 but Im going to have to wire it all from scratch.

its not a terribly complex set up tho.
bit of power, some ground, and all your command activations.

ie: gotta run the proper wire to drive door switch so it prompts it to run the drivers door is ajar script
and so on for the other door, lights, gas, ect.

I think Iv got all the correct labeling on the one I have (note that its from a 280zx) but I havent had time to test it.
