I may have missed it further up, but are those the original tail lights on it? I've never seen any like that before. I LOVE THEM!!!

Yes, those are stock mk2 notch tail lights.  Very similar to the mk2 hatch tail lights and the ever sought after euro tails.

the only thing I don't like about this notch is the rack on the trunk lid... Iono I'm just not feeling it. But car looks great otherwise....

yeah, It was an 80's thing.  It would not be hard to remove it and patch the screw holes.
