Yikes!  Your car is in need of a serious polish and wax!  I know a guy that can do that ;)  PM me if you're interested..

BoostedVG (in regards to people hating on the VG) - Me thinks they were not the mechanic they thought and blamed it all on the engine.

Colonol Gustard - youre one of the few people that represent the s12 chassis like a boss!

No worries guys, didn't do anything crazy like bolt it on or anything! I know this eccentric guy that would give the American Pickers a run for their money - he stopped by with these so thought you would like to see them. He said the 1st one came off a motorcycle side car. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

@ Silverton - we both know it's way past a wash & wax - very dead hood paint. It's on the project list.

Red, I recognize your attempt to to help out a slow day...  I gave pops my 1949 Caddy hood ornament, so your thread rang a bell with me, but I can see how others may have nothing pertinent to say.

yeah nice try bro, but these cars are far too small to use a chunk of metal in the middle of the hood to align them with the road ;)

for those too young to remeber, that was one of the purposes of the orginal hood ornaments... reminds me of things like the highbeam switch by the clutch pedal...

My 68 El Camino has that hi beam switch. My wife was driving it years ago, and every time she went to low beams the motor died! I knew she was crazy, till I tried it myself - died just like turning off the key. Had to drive it 20 miles on hi's with everyone flashing their lights at us. Turned out the switch was broken and shorted everything out when on low beams.

I miss the high beam switch. I might need to rig one up just for the sake of it. Potential write-up to follow :P

I didn't know that!! Glad I took the pics, it was worth the small amount of grief to learn that. Think I'll put one on my daughter's Camry - she's pretty short and has to crank the seat up to see - have to sneak one on when she's not looking - think it would drop her insurance rates??

I doubt it, lol... If anything depending on the size/shape and all, they'd declare it an impalement hazard and stick you with a higher premimum...

Hey its worth a shot though ;)

they started to make them foldable because of the impalement hazard. good old Ralph Nader was part of that. many night i would aim the crest of the caddy on the white line and drive home. (thats when i drank) as far as the high beam switch on the floor if you lived in the northeast you hated them in the winter snow and ice would mess with them. i had a friend who could take them apart and turn them into a remote starter switch that was our anti thieft device.

maybe this one on a s12

Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.
i dont own a s12 at the moment but trying to acquire one to get rid of my s13 hatch
