What's better than seeing a car given free rein on a designated course or track? Not a whole lot really. There are some who may say the streets, but being that it is both unsafe and illegal, we really don't suggest that type of driving. And then there are those who prefer an expensive paperweight or a trophy wife that stays in the carport all year, and they would be right for not having any interest in driving. But for the rest of us, and we're talking about all those who consider themselves as petrol heads, there is oh so much more to a car. To fill one's senses with a car burning rubber and the intoxication of speed... Well it is a drug that we are all addicted to and seriously, it is by far one of the best ways we think one could do with a vehicle.

As part of the Driver's Blog series, and one that has been a bit overdue, we pick up with a bloke from the Midwest of the US. He's already been making the rounds online thanks to Nick Quigley, and thanks to some really great shots, there has been much interest generated about this car and driver who suddenly appeared. Almost as if we were seeing a mirage, it is all too sudden that we were seeing an S12 hitting the in Formula D's Pro Am series. Only in his second year and only five events for experience, Devin Callanhan has shown much promise already and was more than willing to sit down with us so we could get a glimpse at who he was and just how he got to where he is today.

Not sure as to if it is crooked or not personally but it is a drift car so to expect the car to be in perfect order as a car that does not see the track is a bit unrealistic. Considering the effort put into it and the amount of abuse it sees, it is in quite good shape.

In my experience the Origin body kit is the best one. Randy up this way also used one for the setup on his bucket.

Heh... drifting actually began on the streets.... and when you're out on a lonely Texas back road with literally miles of straight pavement stretching away into the distance, and nothing to hit if you slide off the road.... it might not be such a bad thing lol

But it's nice to see yet another drift S12 in a photo, doin' of sideways... What makes any bumper kit "the best"? Just curious.

Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.
i dont own a s12 at the moment but trying to acquire one to get rid of my s13 hatch

Love it, except for the bumper sag.
Never thought I'd ever see a body kit pulled off on an s12.

Then you haven't done much searching on here or elsewhere. An S13 Silvia-style (fixed headlight) bumper will work with minor modifications and together with S13 side skirts or an SE skirt kit doesnt look bad.

Most of the time, when someone's car has bumper or lip sag, it's not because they are track cars, it's because they don't know how to reenforce the parts to make them sit properly. I cringe every time I see a sagging SE lip because I know very well how to keep them shaped and sitting the way they are supposed to be.

I agree and I hate the way my lip sags; however, it is a bit different than the normal conditions of a lip sagging. Mine has to do with the geometry being different than stock. I have been discussing/working with Silverton and Mr.510 on a new solution but it will take time and right now, both our cars are working on other stages until we start focusing on our solution.

I've seen yours up close, there's gonna be some cutting involved for sure to make that work.... but it'll be an afternoon job when you finally get it handled. But yeah, yours sags for a different reason.

Wow. That just sounds dirty LOL.

So, Devin is in the running for rookie of the year in ProAm. Let's see if we can get him some votes and support S12s in the greater import/drift community. He is currently in 2nd place with not much more needed to reach 1st!
