« on: 05:26:47 PM / 05-Jul-12 »
Okay i been having problems with my  tps sensor werid thing is the car runs when i unplug it what gives? I thought the car would die if i unplugged. The crazy thing is the car runs better with it unplugged. How is it still running?

first off what year is your car and what engine do you have in it?  and if it is the ca18et you can run with the tps unplugged no problem.  and the tps is in fact just a switch not a potentiometer.  it opens ( i believe ) when you are anything off closed throttle.  i will have to look in my fsm to confirm though.

Its just so werid that the car works perfectly with it unplugged. My car runs so much betterlike whats the point of having a tps sensor when it runs perfectly without.

Can this be result of poor idle sloppy response if so I wouldn't mind knowing its location

are you unplugging the TPS or the idle switch?  The TPS is a three pin plug with a push clip to release.  This is used on automatics only and is for the transmission to know where the throttle is for shift points.  I believe it also helps with fuel mixture, but unsure on this.  Both Auto's and Manual's have the idle switch.  It's a three pin connector that's held on by a metal clip.  This needs to be set properly for the vehicle to function to it's fullest ability.

Hook a multimeter set to continuity to the lower two pins.  adjust until you're just a cunt hair from continuity, when you tighten the bolts (don't put too much torque on these, they are extremely weak!) it should drag the switch forward enough to be spot on.

BoostedVG (in regards to people hating on the VG) - Me thinks they were not the mechanic they thought and blamed it all on the engine.
