clutch control parts
« on: 01:35:23 PM / 30-Oct-17 »
1988 200 SX Coupe, Manual Transmission, 33,000 original miles - Clutch Control not functional. Pedal drops to the floor when pressed. Clutch Master Cylinder holds but does not release fluid when pedal is pressed. Want to replace Master and Slave Cylinders and hydraulic lines between them.
1. Where should I go to get these parts?
2. What manufacturer sells quality parts?
3. Does anyone sell pre-bent hydraulic lines?

Please respond to my email address "david.mandel@va.gov"

Thank you,
David Mandel

33k on an ‘88, wow that’s pretty good. I got my 85 coupe a few years ago with just under 34k on it.

1.  https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1988,200sx,2.0l+l4,1208663,transmission-manual

2.  Stick with a name you know

3.  Not that I know of. Why replace the lines?

Rockauto would be the best place for parts but you can also check with your local part stores like Autozone and what have you.  As for the clutch master you might have to swap the old push rod to the new master as some people had experienced (myself included): compare the two before you install the new one, it will save you  some bitching.

Thank you for your response and help. Regarding the hydraulic lines, I thought it would be best to replace everything.

Up to you of course. You can buy bulk line and the parts stores usually have the flaring tool you can borrow. If you've never flared the ends of tubing before it can be a bit of an art. I broke two centering bits before really getting the hang of it. But if the fittings are good and don't leak then I'd leave well enough alone.

I would replace the rubber line and leave the hard lines alone unless the line is rusted or damaged.  just spray the connectors, nuts and bolts with penetration oil a few times before work.
