Is it possible to swap a VG30DETT into an S12. will it fit i\in the engine bay?

that all depends..

You can put a VG30DETT in an S12, its been done.

However, it was stated that it never ran. dont know why, but theres a picture on here somewhere. its so frickin tight in there...

thanks How tight was it like the engine in the old fieros.
I only ask cause the vg30dett engine is somewhat cheaper thenn the sr20

its freakin tight in an z32....i have heard that nissan charges 6 hours of labor to change the alternator....they charge 6 hours of labor to change the timing belt on the z31...so yah, put that in perspective.

Get a VG30ET and make it a TT. Just use Z32 turbo manis, I was going to, but got a better deal on my SR20. If you're thinking of doing that, I have TT manifolds just taking up space in the back of my Jeep.

I have half done this swap in turbotim's S12 notch. You all will be interested to know that the VG30DETT bolted onto the standard CA20E cross member and the standard mounts on the VG using the USA/Canadian CA20E rubber engine mounts. Brake booster mods needed and we are making new exhaust manifolds.

What's the difference between the USA/Canada CA20E mounts, compared to say, ours?

Are they more like S13 ones?

The USA/Canadian mounts are the same as the FJ20 S12 mount and our (Series 3) 910 Bluebird CA20 mounts. For some reason we got different rubber mounts in the S12.

I have never tried this but by the look of the mounts in my Nissan S12 service manual a FJ20 with S12 engine mounts on the engine will bolt on to the S12 CA cross member using the USA/Canadian S12 CA20 rubber mount or the S12 FJ20 rubber mounts. Or if you are in Australia (series 3) 910 bluebird CA20 rubber mounts.

Well, the engine bay of a z32 is tiny....period. My best friend and I work on his TT z32. My s13 has a larger engine bay in all directions. I had some pics of a z32 in an s13 and it fit with a lot of clearance in the front AND the sides. And yes, I know what I'm talking about. "HINT"...If the install of the vg30dett in an s12 is anything like the install in an s13...get yourself an infiniti J30 oil pan and make new oil lines for the turbos...makes the crossmember work better....

So temped to pick up my old S12 notch and do this.....OHHHHH DAMN

How does the tranny line up?

 Good luck changing the spark plugs out of that one.
