Title: Post Wheel Pictures And Specs
Post by: JuneBug on 08:40:00 PM / 04-Nov-07
Alright guys I'd like to see what different size wheels look like on s12's.  Please post a picture of your car and list the type of wheel, the diameter, width, and offset of both the front and rear wheels.  Also state whether you had to roll or pull your fenders to make them fit.

EDIT
To keep this clean I will go through and delete any posts that do not have an example of wheel specs. Magnum

Not trying to grave dig, but these are starion/conquest wheels^^

I have a set (F) 16x7 +XX ® 16x8 -10. I bolted the rear on my 88 200sx se and I cant tell if with rolled fenders, stretch ons, and my already 3 degrees of camber on each side would clear my fenders... Th fronts seem fine, but the rears have me worried?

Any insight?

195/55 and a baby pull would probably be proper

Baby pull? never heard this term? You're saying very lightly pull out the lip of the fenders/1/4s at the top center to adapt the to the wide ass wheels? also, is the tire size a guess/rough shot? or do you know for sure?

Rage has 195's on his rear 8J's, and it touches the arch(practically sits on top of the tire). If you pulled it out just slightly, it would be perfect. And by baby, i mean a slight pull of the quarter panel. You'll need to have rolled the lips inward, and then get a roller to pull it out.

I'm using 195/55 in back, and a 205/50 or 195/50 in the front with a 10-15 mil spacer.

I'll post pics when I get them done and on. They're going on a bright Red 88 SE. I'm thinking black with a metal red lip, super advan style!

I know it's not the best picture to see wheels, but here's one with the race wheels on with my friend sitting on the hood:

Konig Rewind 15x7 +0 offset (I think they're 13.2 lbs) running 205/50/15 Kumho V710 race tires (a lot smaller diameter than the stock tires, that's why the fender is not filled with tire/wheel)

I could use some fender flares, but I don't care too much about it, probably hurts my aerodynamics a little... I don't mind how it looks with the tires sticking out though.

So what is a good offset for our cars, looks like anywhere between 25 and 35.  If you want the tires more inside you go with the larger offset, but if you want the tires more out bound, then the lower the number, is this correct?

just doing some theorizing but ideal offset for 8.5 in the front would be like +20 maybe +15, but they will stick out past the fender another ~1-6mm than silvia love's wheels

17x9 +0 will fit pretty similar to my 16x8 -10's btw

Volk/Rays Grp A Evo 2 16x7+25. S13 coilovers, knuckles, and LCAs. No fender mods, small amount of negative camber. ISC coilovers wound down to maximum low. Next step is to remove the lock collars, and crossmember spacers. Tyres are 205/50/16 Federal 535SS.

For rear fitment, can we please stipulate what rear-end is in the car? Ie, IRS, SRA.

Some are obvious, others aren't.

as they can go and i have even removed one of the red rings that tighten
up against the other one to hold the spring in place to make them a
little lower, i just snugged the existing ring to the bottom of the
spring cup. The car has no rear interior and i was told im going to get
some sag so before i start modifly the spring cups im going to put some
km on the vehicle. I plan on having the rears as low as the front.

Here's what I have on for 17's with the 350z rims. 17X7.5 front +30mm and 17X8 +33mm. They are pretty heavy though I have to say. 47-50 lbs each wheel with tire. 215/45 fronts and 225/45 backs.

OK guess I kinda screwed up and can't load the pictures on here. I will try again later or something.

Depends on the offsets and how much camber and fender flaring you're willing to do.

Hi Everyone, on AUS12 we have the Wheel Fitment Thread.
I searched but couldnt find one on here.
So here is my fitment on my 84 Gazelle.
Live Axle Gazelle

195/55 tyres

S13 Coilover conversion
with SR20DET Brakes
3 inch out of guards
NO SPACER
Guards not flared (yet)

Rear:
SSR Speed Star Mesh
15x8 +1
195/55 tyres

Has stock suss, but Coilover Live Axle conversion in process.
sticks out 10mm
but when coilovers and Bluebird TRX III brakes are on, calculated 1.5 inch out

Enjoy

Since this is for wheel fitment, more front camber and spacer in the back. Fender to lip man, not fender to tire. The credit card flush is for fender to lip

Edit. And lower. If it doesn't clear, pull it man.

I havent adjusted the camber as yet.
Im going to have to modify the top of the strut tower so I can adjust the camber to the max.
I have bolt on flares or as you all call them Fender Flares, from a 240Z.
But im still undecided about using them or not.
Look good or not?

huge

195 65 r14 in the front... but like 15 percent of the tread is up inside the fender.. more reason to raise the car, and space out like 8 mill

why such high profile? because it has alot fo tread, there like almost new when i got them.... since im going to camber out alittle more, i dont mind camber wearing 65 profile 14's

the rear is  190 60 r14

and there just for driving i prefer to drift on my 195 50 r15 toyo proxes on the riken mesh

So therfore I will be an individual, which is what I like and what I do.
If you havent noticed that my wheels stick out of the guards ridiculously!

The only other thing I can think of is doing what KE70 drivers do here.
get another front guard, cut the wheel arch off, weld onto original guard, and verandah style the guards to make them fit.
I have already tried flaring my guards and with -8 camber, its possible.
NOT HAPPENING!

These 15" wheels in gunmetal black being 7" in front and 8" in the rear. ET 10 in both front and rear would that be optimised? I don't wan't them to stick out but just close.

I have 15x7's in the front at 0 offset and they stick out a little bit, so your fronts should work perfect.

15x8's at 10 might look perfect for the rear, as my 15x7 0's in the rear look inset a small bit.

Well I would love that, even 10's but problem is that they are very strict about the width of the wheels here, so I can't risk 500 bucks on some wheels that might stick out a bit. Be running 275's like the 350z oh yeah that's a dream.

Ok cleaned the back of them, there are western wheels, 15x8.5 there is also a 2 on all of them so that could be the offset but I am pretty sure that it is lower then that

For the stock se, 17x9 with +23 offset and 265/40/17 tires will fit. If you are going to slam your car it will need a roll. But it does NOT have to be pulled.
These are Eagle Alloy series 168

Since no one ever answered this...

Not really. Not like there. They would NEVER ding you for your tires/wheels sticking out past the fender. They only bother with safety issues like broken/non-functional lights, broken exhaust, tinted windows that are too dark, etc.

And most police just use these as an excuse to pull you over hoping you're up to no good.

15x8, +4 with 195/60-15 tires:

to be clear, this can vary WILDLY state by state. we have a federal government but much power still resides with individual states of the union. i'm not familiar enough with the laws in all 50 and i don't think datsunfreak is either, to say that you'd NEVER get shit for having a wide setup.

that said, it's not an issue in Pennsylvania.

and arro, about wheel and tire size, i agree. i think the ride height matters a lot but it seems easier to hit the "sweet spot" with the combination you listed. datsunfreak's stance is awesome.

Regarding "Defect" laws; Here in PA we do have laws on wheels and tires.

Tires can't stick out past the fenders or flairs and there's a 3.5" limit on flairs.

Mine are a little wider than 3.5" but they're steel and blended to the body. I just say they're technically not flairs but the the actual fenders and win my stickers. They'll work with you a bit here it seems  .

There's other rules like tires on any axle must be the same size(you can run big and littles front to back but not side to side), can't be bald, no age cracks, etc...

lol at used victoria. sounds dirty.. anyway. its funny seeing that style wheel in a 17.  if i were going to get that style i wouldnt get a rota knock off though.  its either the cheap knock offs on ebay or the real deal PanaSport.  although the fat spoke goes further back but they only fit volkswagens lol.  if u gonna get a rota get the grid. it looks sick especially in low offset.

I had staggered wheels and same-size tyres all round prior to 5-studding and IMO it looks odd, with the rear having a little stretch and the fronts not.
Right now I have S14 OEMs with 10yr old 225/45 gypo runners to roll around on and meh they're too fat for the rims. Need some 8s, or better tyres.

For reasons unfathomable to mankind, my S12 is currently fitted with wheels from a mining truck. Here are some pics in keeping with the spirit of the thread:

Some kind of TSWs I think, with 225/50 R17 Kumhos. It looks silly. Anyone dare guessing the offset of these leviathans? I haven't a clue...

So yeah, I've decided to get me a new set of wheels; 15x8" and strap 195/50s on them. Judging by the images of 8" wheels in this thread, ET0 pokes out too much in front (looks good but means trouble with the law and vehicle inspection) yet ET15 makes them look too narrow in the back. I'm thinking of ET15 front and ET0 back (running stock S12 struts and IRS).

Thoughts?

Edit: Sorry for bumping an old thread. Dunno how much of a no-no that is here, but I need some guidance from you enlightened folks, no matter how dreary the question is :D

Look like 17x7 or 17x7.5 with a +35 to +40 offset to me.

Can't comment on the 15" though.  I have 15x7 +6 on mine, but I have S13/S14 front suspension and a shortened hilux diff in the rear.

Thanks, seems reasonable. I went with silver/black 15x7 Work Equip 03 knock-offs. I wanted +10 offset in front but had to go with 0 all around cos they didn't have any +10 with 4x114.3 bolt pattern. Oh well, hopefully they'll pass vehicle inspection even though they're gonna poke out in front. I'll get something better fitting later.

Out of curiosity, you know how much (if anything) the S13 front strut conversion will affect track width? I have a set lying around that I want to install.

15x10 Centerlines with somewhere around -30ish offset

Roughly add 10mm each side.  S13 LCA is about 10mm longer than S12 and then S14/S15 is another 10mm longer than S13.

15x7 all around. +4 rear and +10 offset in front if i remembers it correctly. sitting on home built coilovers, modded knuckles, adjustable top hat in front. rear only have the shorten spring.
little more about knuckles. passenger side knuckle in the driver side and the driver side in the pass side so it acts like extended lca  :tongue2:

There we go! Work Equip 03 knockoffs, size 15x7", with slippery 195/50 economy tyres. I also made a new grille from an aluminium mesh sheet. I think it looks too blingy though, so I'm gonna paint it flat black.

It looks and behaves infinitely better. An S13 strut convo is next on the to do list.

Whats up with the reflectors on your fenders??

That would be the side indicators... They're not pretty, but in my country we're required to have them. Clear ones would be less conspicuous, though I'd rather spend that money elsewhere :P

Thanks! Yeah, the mesh ones are nice but I'm not a fan of the horizontal stock grilles (which my S12 suffered from). I've painted it black now though and it looks an awful lot better.

Hey everyone. I know this thread has been down for awhile but im changing my wheel setup for now. Anyone know if 17x9 +35 or +22 would fit with 235/40/17 tires. I dont mind rolling or pulling the quarter panel or fenders. And im lowered on canuck springs

I seen an S12 with 17x9 (rear) with a +23 offset on Dunlop Direzza tires, 245/40 R17.  The front has 17x8 with a +30 offset with 215/45R17 tires.  Not sure if his fenders were rolled but the stance looked awesome.  He had Algernon Intelessee II wheels.

I believe that was draconis that had those rims. I just dont want to buy rims and finding out they dont fit lol from what i saw the rears fit fine its the front might be an issue
