like it says I want to build my turbo 200sx but i dont have the cash to necessarily drop a sr in it so how can i make power out of this without sacrificing reliability?
fyi
the engine eats oil so im pulling it this weekend and most likely doing a full teardown and turbo also is getting nixed
edit*
nev mind
If you don't mind a little wiring I would just swap it if you have to do a complete teardown. You can pick up ka24's and 18det's for pretty cheap generally and both are a lot stronger than the 18et's bottomend. The ca18et has proven it can perform but really needs to be built to do it.
duz the ka perform better thant the et motor? i mean yeah 600cc more engine would make a dif but how much?
cuz i have a s14 with a stock ka that im supercharging in the next few months
top end build on that studs cams valves gasket and pistons
more displacement usually means its able to handle more power and enjoy a happier powerband. KAs love boost too, so consider that as a upgrade.
the general rule of engines is more displacement = more potential power. a tiny d16 honda engine is a whopping 1.6 liter, so its quite small compared to a KA, but you can still pull 220hp out of the stock bottom end before u have to upgrade it. the KA has a good torquey bottom end, so its fantastic for boost and shit. any engine is a good upgrade to a 18et if you crave power
ok let me make clear what budget means i have 2500 cash just for go fast goodies
already have diff suspension and bushings set aside
P.S.
i tried removing the turbo today.... OMFG NISSAN YOU A-HOLES i dont have the equiped garage to deal with this crap will put pix up whan have motor out of my issues
CA18DET will be easyer in the means of swap - it sits on all the original places and connects with the old gearbox, so you won't need to make any holes for the shifter, shorten the shaft and other stuff

2,500 is enough to buy a KA24DE engine/trans/ECU+harness, as well as all the turbocharging aftermarket shit to boost it. WAY plenty of power.
But you probably want to work on suspension and repairing other stuff... just get a KA24DE swap and run naturally aspirated for now. Even NA it's more powerful than the CA18ET.
Also it's dual overhead cam, and there's plenty of cam options for those engines.
If you do find a singlecam KA tho for like free or 50 bux or something, get it, they're powerful in their own right, but I'd still rather have a KA24DE dualcam instead.
Wait, I *do* have a KA24DE lol
Edit: with the exception of minor mods to make the trans fit, the KA24DE engine bolts right in. If you use the later S12 "C" trans, even the trans bolts right in without mods.
I've got a ca18det in mine and only 5psi (havent got my boost controller in yet). but even at 5psi' it pulls nice. granted the turbo isnt stock, but still nice.
