Title: Going thru rear brake pads like water
Post by: Skywarp777 on 07:46:39 PM / 14-Apr-12
Hi guys...

I've been changing the rear brake pads on my 87 S12 notch, like a lil over 2 months in a row(on the average) like nothing. Even though, the pads are lifetime warranty... the labor isn't, and can be expensive, when you're on a budget.  :brow:

I'm thinking, one of the calipers is sticking or forcing the piston out too quickly... what do you guys think?

Any info would be very helpful... also any prices on rear calipers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks  :grinwink:

I'm using low budget Autozone crap ones, unfortunately.

Maybe, I shoulda spent the extra and went with the semi-metallic, or better yet, sprung for some EBC greenies. lol

Oh, I've changed them twice in the last 3-4 months... always the rears.

Sometimes the ebrake cables don't disengage... sometimes I have to get underneath my car and whack my caliper with a hammer a bit to get it to disengage lol

Funny, how when I bought my S12 two years ago... after it sat in a garage for 8 years... the guy I bought it from JUST repaired the e-brake cable...

Then this loser who worked on my brakes, the 1st time, SNAPPED one side of the e-brake cable.

Would it still be doing that... even if one side is broken?

I love driving my S12, but that brake grinding is so ANNOYING.

Would semi-metallics make much of a difference? Also, how are the EBC pads and what do they go for?

Anyone, know of ANY better performance brake pads?
