Title: Uh... what happened to cs12?
Post by: mod_mastaz on 01:13:21 AM / 18-Dec-14
I dipped out to S12Silvia but traffic there is pretty weak too. What the hell happened to CS12 in the past 3 years? Where is everyone? I was over the car scene for a while but I'm back now.
I've been focusing on school and work. Been place to place for the past 2 years after I got kicked out, so I've been on the road every 4-6months. Still unstable, but at least I'm fortunate to have work.

POS12

Is everyone still a cheapass? Why is the tech section dead still.

Andrew or DemonicS12's car is in hibernation. I hooked him up on enkei 92s. 16x9.5 +0 16x8+0. He's focusing on his career.
eightysix200sx I have no clue what happened to him
Gustavo is still slanging parts from what I know
Alex moved to Kentucky.

Edit: Sterling is slowly getting out of the s12 game. He's still in Hemet, storing some of my parts haha.

Let's see here.

Arro still owns his RS-X, as far as I know, but he's been largely inactive on the site, what with his personal life and his love for Dodge Neons
Xano dropped out of the S12 game to focus on his personal life and career. Aside from sysadmin'ing the site, he currently owns a Jeep Liberty and a bunch of fish.
Jay moved to Calumet, MI for school. He still owns his S12, though last I knew, a 17' pile of snow collapsed the rear hatch glass.
Maxpow was arrested on charges of DWI, Evading Arrest, Reckless Driving, Excessive Speed, and others. He is currently serving his sentence.
Colonel Gustard got a job at AutoZone, where he slings parts for marginally more than the local minimum wage. He strives to repair the damage to his rolled SE, and sell his daily-driver XE.
EternalSwap packed his things and moved to Indiana, to work at a Ford plant.
Silverton sold his SE to Mr. 510, and bought a Subaru. Nobody knows what became of him since then. (Except, presumably, Mr. 510)
Rednucleus still owns his bought-new S12, but is a water-skiing, beer-drinking veterinarian and family man. I don't blame him for not posting often.
Iceageg moved to Florida, where he battles the FAA on a daily basis to keep his family familied.
VG33ERGazelle? sold his S12 to somebody who wasn't me. The bastard.
Redneck can still occasionally be seen, though his car was recently stolen and returned.
Sideways_S12 sold his S12s in preparation to move to the UK with his wife.
Eightysix200SX still logs on every once in awhile, though I haven't the faintest what he's been doing.
Prolowtone works at an oil field in Canada.
Wolf Dilworth fucked off to do Austin stuff.
StephenG runs a general contracting service in Longview, Texas, and is still trying to keep his D21 running.
I_Heart_VVL sold his S12 to a needledick and got a job at a local customs shop.
DrummingPariah became a systems administrator for some big-name server company or something. He sold his S12 long before this, to fund one of many aborted S30s.
S12Prelude still lives in Florida. God rest his soul.
Everybody Else just kind of fell off the radar completely.

I assume all of the other members gave up? It seems like this site is a ghost town since everyone got permabanned. I really left when DemonicS12 got permabanned and eightysix200sx dropped off. Well when I wrecked my hatch, I was like fuck this. I ended up with that flatblack coupe with the autopower cage. ca20et with MS2. Sterling parted that car out and I ended up with the goodies. Then I bought Henry's heartbreaker s12 and swapped all of my shit over. What's left is an abomination of all s12 parts in one car.

I still own an sev6, purchased all 3 of sideways_s12's cars to help him and his family out.

Yeah, I'm still active though I'm too old for most members on this site! I actually keep my CA18ET and SE pretty stock with small upgrades for fun, no drifting just DD. I'm stuck in the 80's while the wifey has her new car...

I'm still lurking.

Bought a pretty clean S12 from TurboTurtle up in Michigan. Drove it for a while with major exhaust leaks - took it to a shop to fix that and they fucked me good. Cutting oil feed lines to replace manifold gaskets and whatnot. None too happy about that.

Car is currently at a different shop getting the SR treatment. Hope to be back behind the wheel next spring and focusing on suspension/body.

Yup. Still own the S12. Drive around in a pathfinder with a plow in winter now. Still the E30 in summer. Haven't replaced the hatch, and on the hunt for an open diff. Thinking of selling.

And, he wasn't joking. It eventually reached the roof. The car was in there.

We average 23 feet up here. The past 2 winters have been above average. My yard is flat. ;)

Wonderingraven: good stuff. I would hate to have 3 non running s12s, but then again I don't have a place for cars.

Cajun1guy: Ah I see. If you need OE parts I am getting rid of my interior lol. Because racecar.

kelso840: good luck man! let me know if you get stuck with the wiring and whatnot. If you need suspension advice, hit me up haha. I near the completion of my suspension setup, sans quality part upgrades.

Jay: I have a spare hatch with glass, from my black car. It has holes for a mk2 spoiler. Pay shipping and it's yours. I can ship from a business address via my work, or possibly my friend's UPS account. I might be able to source you an open diff. r200 or r180?

Unfortunately, other priorities come first ATM. I'd totally take you up on that hatch if I could float it right meow.

How's that VG Pathfinder working out for you, Jay?

Gets the job done pretty well. Even if the VG does constantly give me problems, is gutless and severely overwhelmed. It hasn't actively tried to kill me though! Where it doesn't have power it makes up for in momentum. HIT IT HARDER!

Tranny and transfer case are as solid as a russian hammer though. I PUNISH them. Couple weeks ago I plowed 8 miles of road, 17 inches deep, pegging the gas in 2 low. I swear that shifter was swinging side to side from wheel slip a good 8 inches, the WHOLE time. (Getting to the deer camp, it's on a forest road that isn't maintained.)

Was awesome.

I got mine still, but the SR made too much power for the Sentra pistons I used and I suspect I cracked a ring-land.
I'm looking to sell, but no takers... I've had it for almost 10 years as a daily driver, I've had my fun and wanted something more modern.

I don't post a ton. Nothing to really comment on. Haven't updated my build thread in a year.
Have sunk way to much money in my car for drifting.
No not all high power sr's break. I drove 7 events with out a mechanical hiccup.
I use social media as my build thread. Using photobucket and even this site on a phone kind of sucks
Title: Re: Uh... what happened to cs12?

Jay: ah i see. No worries I'll have that hatch for a while. I'll keep an eye out for an H190.

Seshuku: ahh still alive I see. Rebuild the sr haha. What car are you thinking of going with next?

OrangeS12: LOL hell no. CA18DET. I need a turbo rebuild and hose replacements. Gonna drive it to the ground. Then high comp high rev turbo build planned in a year or two.

Cajun1guy: I only have tidbits of OEM stuff. Minor interior pieces and whatnot. Mk1 blue shift boot, radio trim, lamp switches etc. Anything in specific you are looking for? Big stuff like interior/exterior panels I don't have.

That Mk1 blue shift boot is right up my alley if it's on offer to sell.  Seriously. I want it.

I don't think its just cs12. A lot of the tuner scene around here has been pretty dead. Even the larger local Nissan forums have just completely dropped off in traffic. It seems like interest in the scene peaked about 5-6 years ago and has steadily dropped off since. I haven't been around as much because my passion was always taking my cars to the track. 2 or 3 years ago the only reasonably priced track I used got closed down by the county so my interest basically died with it. There are a couple other local track options but they are not really ideal tracks and kinda far away. Now I just daily my s12 and don't really have any reason to modify it because it isn't gonna be used at the track. I still love it as my daily though.

Not really looking, I just buy a few good parts to feed my habit if they pop up. I've had some great results lately working with parts pickers on Row 52. If you have a rear view mirror in good shape that you need out of your way...

Don't know if you guys know me but I still lurk on here hoping to find some form of life with not much luck!  My build has been on hold since I moved to Charlotte. My car is still in Atlanta. I was supposed to go pick it up this week until some chick decided to see if she could text and drive at the same time so she  caused a 4 car pile up on my way home on Monday night. Now the roll pan on my truck is shoved into my bed and I can't get my tow hitch on until it's fixed...so more delays! So pissed!  My SR is sitting on a stand in my garage DAMN!

Hahaha nice update the Schizo. I try to get on here as often as i can and answer questions, search parts and look at peoples builds but im super busy with working away. Last time i drove or seen my cars was last Christmas.. Im heading back into British Columbia on sunday for a funeral and decided to continue onto from there to my home. Plan to bash a few knuckles on my 12s before i need to be back here for the 6th of January. Was saving my money to buy a house but i feel the itch for some s12 goodies HAHAHA. How is every else?
Title: Re: Uh... what happened to cs12?

With all that Fort Mac money, no way you're all that far from buying a house at this rate.

Ick, fort mac can keep its money. I am working near Edmonton Alberta. Propane/Butane Plant Storage expansion for Plains Midstream. I have gotten 2 raises here in 6 months.. was making $18 an hour before that. Been helping run a crew of guys under my foreman who just gave me a new, just removed from the box, 1967 lever action 30/30 marlin cowboy rifle. This job has been stressful on my little experience but he keeps pushing me. I now receive work permits, Morning meetings paperwork, Hazard assessments, progress reports to the client, quality control paperwork (Welding and flange torques), Edit drawings. Basicly doing what foremen do. bounce around from 10-24 day shifts and 12 to 18 hours a day.. I think i should be good for my schooling in may considering i am a first year worker on paper hahahaha
Title: Re: Uh... what happened to cs12?
Post by: SchizophrenicMC on 12:46:05 AM / 20-Dec-14
And I spent 14 months at O'FuckYou Auto Parts working at $8 an hour with shit for hours and no raises or promotions at all, despite lots of pushing on management to notice all the hard work.

I'm destined for disappointment, if I can't even move up at a retail job. I'm gonna get back to my beer now.

D-Sport S12: I need to check out your build thread haha. Sounds fun! I wish I could afford track days.

Cajun1guy: I have a tan mirror. Just pay me shipping and it's yours. Condition is fare but it's tight and not loosey goosey, last I remember.

weitrhino: Yeah, I don't mind selling this accordion boot. I hear it's worth quite a bit in value now and I could use the holiday cash. Will PM you back.

Redneck: Yeah, It seems social media is where all the news is at. Blogs traffics are slowing down and i guess forum traffic is too. It's easier to post on FB or IG for updates.

Seishuku: Nice! haha. I remember seeing your build thread waaaayy back and you had a video doing donuts. I don't think I'll ever forget that. Probably what prompted me to mod/swap the s12, since I knew it was possible somehow. Now I regret this moneypit LOL.

8sixs12: Sorry to hear man! Good luck getting the 12 home. Well even more so, good luck fixing the truck. What a bummer man.

mc: How far did you get with the remote mount turbo stuff? Andrew and I always kick around ideas for his VG33 build, but after he puts more of the car together.

Prolowtone: If you have a choice between a house and s12 parts, definitely house! lol I would kill for an opportunity for a house. Being a broke college student doesn't help, so I'm putting that off for a while haha.

I am still here to. I check in a couple times a week to see whats going on. my s12 project has been finished for 7 or 8 years. have had zero issues with the car in that time. just keep putting on new tires and changing the oil. and its time for new tires again. I have been thinking of re visiting the project but I will probably lean towards  some sort of forced induction on the g. or trade the g in on a gtr. my new bike should be paid off by the spring so that's when some thing will happen.

..every vg30 or 3.3 NEEDS to be turbo'd..LOL...especially since its a plug and play with the ECU/afm/injectors..go front mount,  if you can afford the custom manifolds or know how to weld,  or do it my way for boost done in a weekend and still keep the a/c functional!..
..anyhow, its a easy 100 HP gain and allows you to really piss off some Mustangs,Chargers,Camaros

....and headers and dual exhaust aint going to do that.

I really like the g37s . I also liked that none were in the area. but now we have an infiniti dealer near by. now I see some from time to time. it just needs to be a little quicker. I have some small mods done and a tune which probably puts it around 300 to the wheels. I wish it pulled like the s12.

The forums may have been Silent, but s12 owners def did not give up. I'm normally silently on the forums, gaining info on our cars. I see many s12 owners posting on Instagram actively. One day I'll add my piece of information on these cars to this forum. I've been writing everything I've done to my s12 into a notebook, like a journal...or a user manual

sideways_s12: I'm pretty jealous. I wanna move out of the country for a while. Would be a nice change haha.

I'm pretty new to the forum but i'm still "building" my cars, very slowly due to not having a job right now. I'm not one to post build threads or anything like that and i'm awful at documenting with pics and stuff so i rarely post here.

My '84 has a S14 KA with what I believe to be rod knock that's going to get pulled out soon and then just sit until I can afford to get it fixed.

My '87 is my daily driver (bone stock aside from a welded diff) that I recently converted to 5-speed and I believe im going to attempt to turbo the CA20 for the second time lol.

Ju_S12_Turbo: YAY! I'm so glad you're still around. I'm slowly building my hatch haha. Almost done! Motor plans are next and I have a new platform I'm going to also.

S12Monkey: Good luck man! I know the struggle. Took me like 6 years to get my car to where I want it. Putting hobbies on the back burner sucks esp when work is scarce, but priorities come first! Documenting stuff is good. I tried to do as much as I can but I'm over it lol so I know dem feels.

I moved to southern New Jersey in Sept. Sold and gave away a lot of stuff before moving. I only own 2 cars now. My S12 and my CRX. Selling CRX soon. The S12 is parked at storage getting rained on. Am I even a car guy anymore?! HAHA yes.
I think the slowdown in traffic here can at least partially be blamed on how popular facebook groups are along with other social media. The downside is less info gets documented and what is posted doesnt get saved for people to see much later. I used to enjoy posting all the details of what I did to my car and how I did it but as I'm growing older I have less desire to do that. I tend to just do the things without any intention to document it and then move on. I spend more time on other things. Often not even car related.
I dont think the S12 scene is slowing down. If anything the chassis is more popular than ever. More and more non-S12ers are familiar with the car and can recognize it. The scene is just changing. The online car enthusiast environment in general is changing. Remember Car Domain? Me neither.

Don't come to Charlotte unless you're in banking.  Only reason I'm here is my wife got a new job and they moved us. Can't wait to move again.  The car scene here sux! The people here can't drive either. I watched a guy make a 7 point turn to get out of the parking lot at work...sad.
Title: Re: Uh... what happened to cs12?
Post by: SchizophrenicMC on 02:05:56 PM / 07-Jan-15
WA is nice, and should be cheaper than CA. TX is much cheaper than CA, has pretty lax rules, and no income tax, but there are no mountains here. All the roads go in straight lines, because there's no reason for them to turn. So the car scene is domestic drag queens, and parking lot driftfags.

We have highest gas tax in the nation here in WA and the governing powers in Seattle/King Co are a bunch of Morons. And traffic is a parking lot virtually all day long now. Come on up lol.

I'm still alive, I just don't post much anymore.  Just lurk, really.  I bought a house and am getting married soon.  That's taken a lot of my time, on top of a 10 hour a day job plus week long 24/7 on-call rotations.  I still love the platform and plan to have another one when things in my life slow back down a bit and I can drop some money into it.

Here's the daily driver and house:

When you get back on your feet out west, get ahold of Arro and find me a rust free shell for a ridiculous swap idea I have.  Won't share much right now, because I don't even know how feasible it is without having an S12 in front of me to measure engine compartment space.

Congrats on graduating! especially with those creds. should be easy to get a high pay job. A friend of mine in Vegas just got a similar degree. He plans to go into aerospace computer stuff. One of my step sisters does it too, she repairs flight traffic control stuff in the Airforce. Seems airplane stuff might be the way to go. Or get an automotive degree too and do car electronics. You could become an electronics engineer designing new stuff for Nissan! or whoever. Oh and DONT move out east or anywhere cold.

I doubt anyone recognizes me, but i've been here a few years, never left, but for the past 5 years pretty much stuck with reading tech threads. I still have 4 s12's, still daily my se. I have been endurance racing an s13 for the past few years so my track car has sat idle., but I'm getting it track worthy now. It looks like, if things don't implode, that I will add a 5th one.  I'm looking forward to have it hit my garage. I will try to lurk less and contribute more, but I tend to keep things simple and not break new ground with crazy swaps, so no need to post about the 300th ka swap. Glad those who are doing well are, and I wish the best for those who aren't.

Nobody mentioned me. :( I still have the s12s. One is non func the other is barely functional. I plan on eventually swapping all the notch parts and the ka to my silver hatch cuz it's in better shape. I have been working as a cashier for 3 years now at a grocery store with my brother who is a manager. I make 10.75 an hour right now. I will prolly be making 11 something at the beginning of summer. I have been living in a 2 bedroom apartment with my girlfriend for like 2 years now. We are going to be moving into her a frame in a couple months that has been getting remodeled so we will be tiny house living and I won't have to pay rent money. I am hoping to get the notch running better and then swap everything to my hatch and also trade my 96 blazer in for either a Volkswagen gti or tdi or a mazdaspeed hatch to daily cuz I am sick of my blazer. Other than that I have just been bicycling. I got hit by a car like 2 years ago but I have still been riding.

Hung get the fuck outta here!!

Lol xoxo ;)

Good to see all of you are alive and such! I daily drove my 84 coupe up until last year before the oil burning sensation got to be too much, then parked it mostly and drove an old echo I picked up for cheap around then.

I work a real job now (solar design) so don't have a lot of time, but I'm going to replace the engine in the 12 with something else and return it to the road.  Not sure how long I'll keep it after that, but it's tough to walk away from as it's built just about the way I want it and gets 30+mpg rock steady (commute 100mi/day).

I'm loving all the epic builds v8s and such... Shift in traffic seems to me like others said due to the way people go about the internets these days, but me... I'll always be here!

@D-sport, I wish I still had any of my 3 S12's...It'd be going on 8 years now since I've been interested in the platform.  Unfortunately, the first was beyond my ability to repair the rust issues and the second and third were destroyed by inattentive drivers to the point of no repair.  I've never seen one here, but I did see a handful of nice old 240-280Z guys driving around recently...I may not find another nice S12 here, but that doesn't mean I can't find one elsewhere and drop an L24 in it.

Wait, was that the one we all talked about that one time where you thought a Kia could outrun the police on an empty tank of gas, or is this another car chase?

Either way, you gotta stop doing that.

This was another chase. I was in a 2011 Mercedes SLK. I got away on foot after crashing the car. It was my mom's :(.

Yeah, I have gotten away so many times I thought I was invincible. Now I get caught every time so now I have to chill out on it. Just fly straight from now on.

Welcome back Max - hope all is well with you now that you are back home with friends and family!

Thanks man! Well its not all fun and games now. I lost all custody of my son, and his mother won't let me see him but I am working on that. Hopefully I can make amends to her and him one day.

And all my friends moved away! I need to get socal to be active again for the S12 community. I miss everyone so much. Those were great times we had on this forum and at car meets. Still have the security s12 notch in the garage so I am trying to see what it would take to register it, get it running, etc. Might just let it go and try to find a different one.

Great to be home though!

Old-school founding member here, my SE has been gathering dust in my driveway (now garage) for a few years now.  Since I became a dad, had some personal issues to work out, had several job changes and a couple moves, I've had other stuff on my plate.  The former member who was storing my extra engine and transmission has disappeared so that's disappointing.  But things are looking up now, and I'm feeling the itch to get the old girl fixed up and back on the road.

I'm DD'ing a 2005 Spec V with header and KYB's all round so that's not bad.  If I had some boring DD I probably would have done more on the S12 by now.

I'm still here too, I just don't log in here often anymore. I was way more active when I was a student and was daydreaming about what I could do to the car with money.

No I have a good job, a house, a girlfriend, and I work and drive the car instead of daydreaming about it... also the facebook groups have gained in popularity... only downside of the facebook groups is that they don't have a database of knowledge and stickies like in here.

But yeah, I'm still in the game, even more than I used to be. Just less active on the forum.

Old Thread, but I was thinking exactly what the title said. Where'd everyone go? Actually makes me really sad. CS12 was for a a time a big part of my day, it was so enjoyable reading everyone's threads, learning more about the car, or just goofing off.  I think peak time for me was 2008-2010 or so.  I used to get on everday and remembere there would be dozens of new posts, new threads. Felt like someone was starting a new project everyday.  Now it just looks like a ghost town.

I haven't been on in years because I couldn't login, and couldn't get the site to send me a a password recovery, and it wouldn't let me start a new account. Found my password on a crumpled up piece of paper in my attic yesterday.

Sadly, the reason I am back on is to sell the car. Too much sitting. After the recession I was unemployed, and then went back to school. Then I have been living in Seattle, with not great place to work on the car.  I daily drove it off and on for years, but now my work is downtown and I ride the bus. We own 5 vehicles and its just too many. She has go to go. I really hope an old (or new) member will get on and see my post and be interested, otherwise the car is going to freakin pick'n'pull.

I should have sold it a few years ago, and saved the money on the tabs and insurance, and sold it on here when there was more activity, but oh well.  I looked up a bunch of the names I remember from the site, but most of them haven't been active for 2-3 years. This thread is like 3 years old itself. I just imagine they are all out there with their S12's and just no longer active on the forum. Guess maybe forums are past their prime in general.

Anyways, I intend to continue lurking on this site. Someday my wife and I will move out of Seattle, and maybe if I get a decent garage I can find a nice S12.  I actually just saw a really clean looking SE for sale on Craigslist a month ago or so locally, so I know they are still out there. Having said that,  I haven't seen an S12 on the road for at least 4 years. When I first moved to seattle I used to see them around, saw 2 in one day once!

I know what you mean, I feel like I am the only s12 around these days that still does something as in shows up for car shows, driving it around town and get it to the track at times now.

I guess as times go on so do people with their cars but then again facebook group has more activity than here sadly =(

I think the cars are getting rare, the S chassis may have dipped a little in popularity, and I think nearly every tech issue has been covered.

But theres some still around. I dont drive my 200 much, but I still buy parts and make plans.

The issue with forum deadness is 100% related to new users not being able to make accounts. It seems like every new member who gets in has a story about their difficulty making a c-s12 account, and the two dudes who have manual approval power aren't as active anymore.

People still want to post here.

I wish this could be fixed. I lurked several times over the last few years, but totally forgot what my password was.  Was unable to do any posting for at least the last 3 years, which discouraged me enough that I stopped checking in. Total fluke that I found my password.

Just to throw this out there regarding this.  Not just Arro and I have approval powers.  I believe we gave that right to the moderators et al.  If not, I'll fix that.  Yes, back in the days of more active CS12 development, we had to implement some pretty rediculous anti-spam measures.  This was before the days of the google "Are you a human" type image recognition test that exists now.  Right now, I have a 14 month old and in Aug/Sept will have my 2nd kiddo as well, so my time to implement/dev some of these things has been very very sparse.

As for the forum losing activity, I personally feel the facebook page has a lot to do with it as well.  People use facebook style social media now significantly more than they use forums based on technology from back in the 90s and even earlier if you consider the "forum" to be an extension of BBSs.

Note: If you can't register, have registered and cannot log in, in general can't log in, or have forgotten your password, you should be able to contact us through a number of ways such as admin email, facebook message, (twitter if you want to, mine is @xanokais) etc.

The facebook page definitely has a lot to do with it.  I get updates from there all the time that would usually have been new posts/threads here back in the day.  I just don't do the facebook much.  Folks there probably think I am some random newbie on the rare occasion that I post something.

Lack of activities seems to be the norm for most online car forums ever since mass migrations to Facebook but I have to say this forum still have more activities that some of the others I ventured.  Hey, I still check into this place about once a week!

Photobucket also did it's damage recently although Chrome users have a work-around. Still, that leaves a lot of blanked out pictures. I recently edited my pics back into my posts through imgur.

Wait, what's the workaround weitrhino?  As techy as I am, I hadn't heard of one!  It may be the open door to ripping down the photos and rehosting them for important how-to threads.

There's a Chrome add-on that displays photo bucket images anyway, despite photocrap's attempted graft.

That's a good point, we gotta change that at this point.  That "title" is bullshit now that people post so much less frequently.  I'll adjust them soon I think.

Another reason people may have flocked to FB more is when a new person asks an often repeated question . . . they get an answer instead of "READ THE STICKIES!!!"  A combination of driving new members away and making it impossible to sign up likely didn't help.  Just another $0.02 for the conversation.

As of 12:10 pm PST there are 97 users with 1 member (your's truly) online, this forum has the highest number of people compared to the two other forums I frequent (44 and 81) at the same moment in time.  I guess you can say that just because there aren't many new posting it doesn't mean there's not much activities going on here.

Regarding approval, I've never found any tools to approve users. If those are available, please point them out to me, and I'll try to keep up with it. I keep a tab logged in here almost all the time.

As for where everyone went? Facebook. It's easier for people to maintain their facebook account and use their well-designed app to make a post or ask a question on their phone. (Because who has a PC anymore?) A lot of the barely tech literate have a hard time keeping forum accounts sorted out in their heads, so once an easier alternative became available to them, they took it. Which sucks, because as a way to share information about our cars, it's actually really bad. Facebook isn't at all searchable, and the ability to write up what you've done is much more limited than on an image board like this.

Of course, the forum stigma doesn't help matters. People opening dupe threads instead of searching or reading the stickies, leads to people saying "read the stickies" and that puts people off.

All that said, the data suggests there is traffic to the site. Search hits are obviously bringing people here. It's just not compelling them to sign up and post. Again, if regular mods have the ability to approve stuck users, I'm on every day. So maybe we can fix that.

Still the only forum with a "Show unread posts since last visit" link at the BOTTOM of each thread.  So much win right there.

I say, if you want new member titles, get your post count up accordingly.

Then again, even I don't post often anymore, so I'm part of the problem too.

I was just joking. Although I am flattered by the title of full member, differentiating between the members does seem a bit silly when there are about 7 people posting on the forum.

Anyway, to make this place seem a little bit less lonely, would it be possible to get rid of the unreliable confirmation email, which prevents the new members from finishing the registration, and replace it with something else? Captcha perhaps? ...seriously asking, I don't know much about this stuff.
Title: Re: Uh... what happened to cs12?

Last we spoke, Xano was looking into a solution. The emails were implemented a while back because there were a lot of spambots signing up accounts on forums all over the interballs and it was ruining everyone's day. They worked for a long time here too, but something seems to have broken them.

I looked through the moderator tools and I couldn't find anything to manually approve users on my end either, so if that can be enabled, at the very least that would help out since I'm on pretty frequently.

I wasn't able to sign up at all, the confirmation email never came. Tried to reset my password, didn't work, tried re-sending the confirmation and that didn't work either.

Finally, I just tried to log in after a week or so, and it did work. I assume a moderator or admin approved my account anyways.

Do you need any help covering that stuff, Sideways?  PM me if you need a hand.

I've been a more frequent visitor on the forum side since I started pushing hard to get my SE back on the road.

Those of us who remember what this club was like in the '00s will always have a soft spot for it.

Checking in. I am doing well. No more getting in trouble.

My son is now 9 and all he wants to do is fish.

I started an expedited freight company so I pull trailers with a 5.9 cummins now. I Love driving professionally. I finally have found my place in the world. Also converted to Karaite Judaism and stopped being a complete degenerate.

Still got the Kia, now I am married and have a 13 yr old step daughter. Wife and I got a 1981 Merc 300Td and a 1984 GMC Suburban in the fleet now too. So 4 vehicles but not S12's. Almost NEVER see them anymore. So weird going from being the guy who saw 100s in the yards, to not seeing one in person except the miracle moments that come every once in a blue moon when I am out on the road. Would love to eventually get another SE. One day. Love you guys. Hope all is well.

Glad things are going well for you.

I was unaware of that particular sect of judism. Makes sense cause I just read theres approximately 1000 in the US if the source was correct. Maybe glanced over it in a sociology text, but that was years ago.

Keep up the non-degenerate stuff, happy holidays, and its time to buy an S12.

Hi Everyone,

I know the site has declined considerably since our heyday era after the first switch from IPBoard to SMF.  I don't know what the fix will be, but the site WILL be around for a long time to come.  It'll always be a personal love of mine to work on and administer this forum.  I do want to modernize this site at some point, but I don't know where the first place to start would be.  There's a possible idea of converting old forum tech documents and writeups to wiki format. However, there are plenty of questions that go along with that idea.

The Good News

The Bad News

The To Do List

That having been said, I think we can overcome this slump if we work to drive more people here.  Try to drive the facebook posters to the site when you can (but not with "Did you check the stickies" responses).  I personally feel that having a searchable Wiki and both Wiki and forum sections for new content about the S110s, R31s, 280zs, Z31s and other similarly aged Nissan platforms would be an option, but I want to hear from the other ranking members of the site and even from you all on how well you think that would go over.

I'll work on the main things blocking our new members from joining and check back in with some kind of survey after those are resolved.

I tried to drive traffic from Facebook to the forum when I was an admin on the fb page, but Arro and I had some disagreements about how best to go about that and what standards to apply, so I deferred to his judgment and have just kept to the forum since then. The main goal, really, was to ensure that technical discussions were properly archived here, and would become searchable in the future, rather than whatever facebook thinks is acceptable. And who wouldn't want to get more daily posting traffic into the site? It'd be great to see the forum return to its heyday, though I don't think that's feasible in today's internet- not to mention the decline in S12s to commune over.

I'm eager to see what you come up with on the technical side of things, Xano. In the meantime, I'll try and keep eyes on the forum and manual membership approvals. And I'll continue spamming the shoutbox as I've done for the past 7 years.

Yea, numbers of S12s are declining.

How many s110s exist?

Id think s30s and s13s might over run the place.

Fj20.com is way worse, and its a resource as well.

Where do all the 510, 610, 710, 620, 720, s130 guys go?

I havent been to infamous, or z31 in quite a while.

I never had Facebook.  But I joined the Clubs12 on Facebook.  I only joined for Club s12.  This forum has helped me and countless others keeping there S12s on the road. Seems the club s12 group is fairly active on Facebook. While the original site it great I believe things have just evolved some??  I still hop on this sight it is an incredible source for info and ideas.  Long live the S12’s and those who keep em going!  Peace
