well i can get a motor for that what would you like
sr20det ca18det  vg30de vg30dett give me a name of a motor and i can give you a price

SR.  I am doing a RB20 swap and it's much more costly in terms of custom parts than the SR swap.  But what type of S12 of s12 do you have?

Odin

Premo

wait, it has a VG or a KA?  i say get a new VG personally if thats what you have.  it'll be pretty easy to get 200HP out of it if you have a little money to spend.  not to mention they're a very cheap and abundent motor

Yeah it has a VG but I also have a blown KA the VG30s hot but it's not what I want and it's a Single cam.

Draconis

Go VG30ET.  They are pretty cheap.  I know of many around here at shops.  No one is interested but they have great potential.  It's on Randy's list of possibilities when he has the money to replace his 300k+ mile VG.  The only issue will be the intake/head.  You may have to get that customed or something.  But that would be a good swap.

I don't want to turbo just yet I think I'm going with the SR20DE it looks like it's going to be my best start for going NA

seishuku

And with the SR20DE you can always turbocharge it later, like I am. Same with the KA.

Do what I did, look for both a KA24DE and an SR20DE, whichever you find first for the cheapest, buy it.

Now thats a good one I'm going with that, anyone know of any other places other than Ebay to look for motors

SR20DE is pretty weak all in all, it needs a turbo to wake it up, what's wrong with only having one cam in a VG30E?
RB20DE is weaker again forget it.
I'd got the larger torquer motors with an NA build unless you plan to turbo it later on.  If you've got one and you think you might want to build it i'd go KA24DE and put a turbo on it later.
Sounds the most fun/easiest (barring putting another VG in).

I'm with NEB on this one.  I say go KA.  That way you'll have lots of support for your NA build up, and if you decide to go Turbo, you'll have lots of support still.

The SR20DE is an SR, but it's not the same as the DET, I don't think it's gonna be able to handle larget boost levels very well, but iono for sure.

I can second this motion. With the RB25 you also have to deal with the fatass transmission (read: Cutting out the transmission tunnel)

Bang for the buck go SR20det if you've got basic fabricating skills (like bending a piece of sheet metal with vise grips). These motors are getting cheaper and cheaper by the day, and US suppliers are starting to stock more and more parts for them.

KA turbo builds are nice, but to do it properly and make it reliable you'll spend over 3 times what an SR will cost.

Personally, I dont like the SR20 (But I am a biased RB whore) due to the fact that it doesnt like sustained revs, and my friend threw a rod due to a bad bearing/valve assembly (3rd gear at 8000 rpm.. It was loud). But another friend who takes good care of his motor (mainly cool down, changing oil, and checking fluids) bags on his car at 10psi all day long and he has yet to have any problems aside from a bad starter, and a timing chain rattle. Both these cars pulled like a stuck pig, and you would be very happy, I guarantee it.

SR20DE will take to boost nicely, the higher compression makes it a very nice engine on boost to.
Tune has to be good though.
Without the turbo it's not a bad 2L NA engine and responsds well to NA mods (up to a point) but in the end it's not going to be a firecracker.
Contrary to popular belief the SR isn't rev shy however it does have a tendancy to spin bearings at the slightest hint of oil supply over overheating, be nice to the oil in the SR.
You can give an internally stock SR20DET a big beating all day long on over 1 bar provided your support systems are up to it.

Well it looks like the SR20 is my best bet for NA. I would do KA and later turbo but sounds like it cost to much to get the power up to around 200

aint gonna do it on a SR20DE with only 4K, But on a SR20DET 4K can get you almost 300RWHP if  spent very wisely, plus it will be more fun.

And what is with all these people lately all up on N/A's nuts
