Holy crap, that's some tight clearance on that steering shaft u-joint!  Otherwise, it fits better than I thought it would.  That is some nice work you are doing there.  Out of curiosity, do you know how much that engine weighs?  That intake manifold always baffled me.  It makes it almost look like a transversely mounted engine.  There's a lot of space in that v to take advantage of, I wonder if a lower profile intake manifold could be made.  Maybe dual log styles with dual throttle bodies.  Just something that would fit under the hood.  Eh, now I'm just thinking aloud.  Pay no attention.  To sum up - awesome work, awesome project, can't wait to see it finished!

Good work!!!

turbo bump hood would give you more space for the intake manifold.

or even better yet, see how each port gets individual runners.
you could make a ITB setup with velocity stacks, going into a single large plunem.

or like this plunem you could make a Single large box plunem that sits on those runners. so you could change the direction of the Intake or intakes, this way you could make what ever you wanted on the box.

those are my thoughts.

Looking good there Zeek,
Have you thought of a custom alloy intake with the throttle body faceing forward?
There looks like alot of room in the V section of the block that gave me some ideas

The excess length in intake piping means they are all the same length... so would be good to keep it in that regard. a custom setup would be very difficult with the way all the inlets are positioned for the manifold.

There's going to have to be a decent sized scoop, the FJ "power" bulge is not big enough to cover that hole.
