Voice Command Module (aka 'bitching Betty')
« on: 01:50:18 PM / 30-Nov-07 »
found an 18ET carcass in the yard last weekend, equipped with the Voice Command Module...can i just pull the parts of the VCM, put them in my '87 XE, and get them to work? what all would i need, and where the hell are the parts located (aside from the obvious, Mr. Telltale 'on-repeat-off' switch in center console)?

if you car originally didnt have a voice box, then youll need to get the sensors too. i believe its just a computer box that has its own wiring connected to the sensors and hooked to the battery. in theory, u proly could make it work. check a FSM for the wiring diagrams and sensor locations

"like people, every car possesses a unique character, with its own DNA, talents, and idiosyncrasies. push it too hard and it'll turn on you, as a person would. if its worth anything, it gets more interesting the more you get to know it"

luck is earned through hard work and determination, not to mention the willingness to take risks and to see bad luck and setbacks as opportunities for growth and a new direction.

There were less options available on the newer twonhundies. I just finished a harness swap from an 87' into a 84's body. The 84's harness was set up for more options than most of our cars came with. I really dont think its possible to install. Any ways, that chicks voice is anoying when your drifting with the door open. LEFT DOOR IS OPEN/ LEFT DOOR IS OPEN.

Ah, that won't work because my speedo is broken. Replaced the cable but still nothing; probably have to replace the cluster. >_< I feel deprived. My car doesn't tell me all the things I want to hear...

the voice box is on the passenger side kick panel next to the ECU in my 85 hatch,  so id check there for any open wiring harness attachments,  you may have the wiring done,  you just have to plug everything in.
