Here's the pictures of my 1st Frankenstein S12. Auto CA20e with all suspension mods. A lot of good tech/info has come from this hehe. I had big plans but I ended up with this new car instead.

Anyway, here is the new car I'm working on. After the swap is completed, I'm going to swap all my suspension stuff over. Currently goals are making the DET look completely stock due to smog issues, then worrying about more suspension. The motor will remain completely stock because I don't need more than what the CA18DET puts out.

Here are the pictures!

50 dollar parts hehe. Clutch master/slave, brake master and 280zx brake line to eliminate the dampener box. I just rounded off hardline fitting so I'm debating what to do ATM.

All the wiring and everything is still being worked out. The tap connectors are only temporary until the car runs, then I'm going to solder and shrink wrap them all together. Also going to make a heat shield for the BMC/harness since I routed it there.

LonelyS12

damn very clean, i love your older s12 it looks hella sick with the base model exterior in blue and the nice fitting 300zx wheels!

i c u breakin' your neck     ;P

mod_mastaz

Thanks! I love that blue car, but it's just not worth it to swap the motor over, even though I know that chassis is clean. It's just too much work. It's a good DD so I like it.

Anyway more pix! I did the clutch hydraulic stuff.

I used a 80 280zx front brake line, but an S13 clutch line would work fine if you move it back to the original location.  I bought my brake line for 10 dollars, and an SS line in this situation is just a waste of money and over kill haha. More to come!

nice pair of cars you got there, and thats what that dampener looks like, i'm doing a 5sp swap and never grabed that, i heard about it but i guess its just not neaded, huh? and i bought the ss hard lines maybe there overkill but just so shiny.

userbar by someone?

i know old navy sucks, but i can't help myself i like the music...

Yeah, it's unnecessary. All it does is prevent a little vibration that goes to your clutch pedal and softens the feel. You'll have a better clutch feel without it, plus there isn't an extra place that needs to be bled/ gets air in the system if you don't have it. I plan on removing mine too

Ok not much done today. I was supposed to get a pedal monkey today for the brake master, but I'll probably wait until tomorrow to do it.

Some wiring stuff here

RATS NEST! It'll be cleaned up after the car runs. I got other things to worry about.

I filled up the motor with this, since it had NO oil at all. It does have a shiny new oil pan with the original stickers on it. woot! The starter* just clicks, so I'm gonna look into why it's doing that and not rotating the motor. Fuel pump relay is left and the wiring SHOULD be done. I'm gonna label everything and post some diagrams to help Sterling out with his wiring guide, since I got all of my wiring help from him.

Some wire labeled pictures
S12 harness, for relays.

S12 Harness, provides power.

I'll label out the pins later. I haven't labeled out the fuel pump ground and shielded ground wire yet; I'll do that and post up pictures when I'm not lazy.

The turbo models have a 6 and an 8pin connectors, the 20e has a different set. I'll get pictures of the S13 CA18DET harness side up also.

why havent we met up yet? lol

nice work

Wow, everything is clean and nice - not as mine swap for now.

How did you route the harness to the ECU? You had a free hole near the brake booster, or you cut it yourself?

mod_mastaz

I punched that hole out. I left the other one for the speedo cable if I ever go to the analog cluster. If I could do it again, I'd route it going past the clutch master into the fender well. It's ok though. That's how the harness is routed for RHD in the S13s. I was looking at the FSM to see how to route it. It looks fairly factory so I'm just going to keep it that way.

meatish

Lookin good.... starter clicking = ground problem?

You have a multimeter? Start poking around and see. The starter is from the orig. ET engine so it worked w/ the ET...

mod_mastaz

Some more pictures of the wiring. I cleaned it up some but it's far from done. I think the starter clicking is because I need a new battery terminal so that's next on the list. I'm waiting for my airbox and vac tank so I can get IC piping made then it SHOULD be running. Fuelpump and everything else will go on later.

Wiring pictures!

S13 harness. Relay plug

S13 Harness power plug

S12 main coil power

Coolant lines. I think the S13 KA ones would work much better but I didn't wanna spend 50 bucks on it just to check. Maybe one of these days, but for now this'll work.

I'll post a wiring guide later when the swap gets done. For now these pictures are only for reference.

Nitro

One question - where have you plugged in the detonation sensor wire?

+ You'll need to leave old oil pressure gauge - the S13 one is just showing there is a pressure or there is not. And we have the gauge which show the oil pressure.

mod_mastaz

Oh yeah I know. I'm trying to find an ET oil pressure gauge in the junkyards. I might buy one but it's not a big deal right now. The knock sensor I haven't dealt with yet. There was a guide on nicoclub about tracing it out(since it's in the harness already, no need to run new wires).

Oh and Caraudio: We'll meet up when the car is done haha. I still need some of your parts!

Nitro

The old detonation sensor on ca18et plugs into the engine harness, and on the S13 it seems that it plugs into the main harness instead, and then connects to the engine harness and to the ECU. So I just found the similar wire in the S13 engine harness that is supposed to be it and connected it there. But I don't know if I am right.

mod_mastaz

Well I picked up some more parts for the car while some stock hardware is being shipped to me. Car is almost done, just needs a little more work and it should get started up and running in a solid 1-2 years. Anyway, pictures!

Relay socket is so my fuelpump relay wiring will be cleaner. I was going to get a junkyard black Nissan relay + connector, but I haven't been hunting for parts. I'll probably just end up hiding this relay behind the other stock ones. Oh and the Walbro is a 255 which I plan on installing after I find an install kit OR parts for it. For now the stock one will work for passing smog.

Oh and guess what Henry wants but doesn't have(yet). $5 DORRALS!!

Bargin bin at Autobacs. If Sterling didn't see it, I would have just ignored it with the rest of the ricer shiftknobs and hoodpins. Good find!

The top is from a DSM auto transmission. I'm debating which to run, but both look nice. I'll probably figure it out after I steal someone's AC stuff so I can find a nice location for it.

Nothing much done for now, but I'm having trouble IDing this random bracket. Later, I'm going to check out the ET vac diagram so I can integrate the DET butterfly valves.

It's on the driver side where the ET harness runs.

EternalSwap

Is that on the frame rail? It might be for the coil? I dont recall

hahah Alex just pwned C-S12, w3rd.

mod_mastaz

Yeah it's on the frame rail. If it's for the coil I'm just going to remove it. I need to make sure though cuz I have a lot of missing brackets I'm trying to piece back. I'll look into it some more. Thanks for the info.
