Toasty!

I was bored, had an old electronic magneto, a spark plug, and 5 minutes of spare time.

Kinda sucks though... Since I went to a blow-through setup, it doesn't run as rich. So not as much flame-age.

It's rich, but not that rich!

When I was first working out the tune, it was bad enough that the oil smelled like fuel, but it's not quite that bad any more.

I ran a blow through setup on my MazdaSpeed MX-5, It was really good considering how the throttle response improved and the fact that I could be crazy with the BOV with no stumbling what so ever.

What are thought overall with this setup?

I'm really impressed with the blow-through setup, I don't know why I didn't do it before! Meters the air more accurately, don't have to worry about a leaky BOV or small air leaks, etc.

Yeah the only downside that I ever heard was that it shortened the life of the Maf though that was only from the people that refused to try it. All Maf failures that I have read about were all based on theory alone. LOL!!  Funny thing was that Jim Wolf was going to have all their Turbo Kits based on Blow Through MAF design.. However they feared the possibly of such MAF failure that they never proceeded with the design even though it was a superior setup.

Yeah, I was worried about oil contamination, but after running my turbo for about a year and no oil in the piping, I wasn't too worried about it.

I actually get more oil in the intake side of the turbo than I do on the pressure side, it's kinda weird. Just a small pool, nothing huge, but I didn't expect any less from a used turbo with probably 80k+ miles on it.

Ok, that's rather funky!

But how exactly does it work... other than running super rich with something to spark the fuel as it comes out?

How is it wired?

I made up a "buzzer" with some relays that pulse the high voltage ignition coil on and off, which of course makes a spark at the plug, and that sets off any unburnt fuel that's in the exhaust.

Only works if you don't have a cat-converter though...
