Sincerely I'm really running on a budget too! It took me a year to get all the parts for the suspension parts and the wheels.. I did some good money last summer I must admit (assistant-foreman at 18!   ) But now I'm back to school and my budget is really limited! That's partly why I'm building my cage by myself, it will cost me nothing here. Free raw material, all the tool I can dream of, etc..

aye... its kinda like where i work, i can use all the tools and equipment, work on my cars whenever on my free time, and they're pretty lenient on using some of the shops supplies etc... for example, my exhaust cost me a whole 14$ to redo... one stick of pipe, and doubt they woulda cared if i hadnt mentioned it... a normal exhaust job from the block back, (exhaust manifold gaskets, and from where it turns into a single pipe back) re-using old manifold would be like what? a few hundred?
dont have to pay for brake clean/parts cleaner, grinding disks, gases for the torch or mig, or wire etc... plus, having my choice of a drive on, or 2 post hoist is sweet!
I can do my own allignments for nothing, and usualy buy my parts through the company on the international accounts, like napa or bumper2bumper and end up with a lower than over the coutner cost... but not by much mind you. also, access to alldata and a butload of other info, plus now i know the ppl to goto for different things.. which machine shop for driveshaft work and.. yeah...
it still costs a butload, but all the lil things do help some. Also, several journyman mechs to ask questions and con into takin peaks of things.. hehe...

Poor joey.. i must ask him a million ??  a week...

Cant wait to see your finished project!

I really like your wheels. I have been wondering what a set of them would look like on an S12.
quality > quantity

Fail: because you are probably too stupid to come up with an actual post.

Very very nice car man.  Absolutely love the MK1 notchness.  Your car is very clean and looks very good in blue/black and those sweet wheels.

Ok here is a small update. Now I've cut out all the rusted metal.. but I can't weld the floor for now since I'm not allowed to weld in my car inside the shop.. and there is no 220V plug close enough from the door to make it possible. What they told me is that they are looking to get 120V mig welder.. but since it's the governement.. it may (read will) take a long time before they made a move. So maybe I will put a seat in and get a quote from a bodyshop just to weld my panel.. and then do the painting myself after.. or do some gaz welding.. dunno.

So I made a flange adapter to put my foam air filter.. took me about 3hrs to do everything lol I was in a hurry. But I'm happy with the result, especially since I haven't weld for months and got no scrap metal to ajust the mig with.. so I just guessed a voltage, a wire speed and a gaz pressure and adjust it while dooing it.. It came out well lol!

That's about it for now!

Good lookin' notch!! I was skeptical when I saw how dull it was when you first got it, but it wasn't anything a little time and money couldn't fix

Top notch notch

THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.

Exactly. What I like on them is that they are badgeless. Enough off those knockoff recaro and bride seats!

Ughhh I bought my Rx7 with APC seats in it.

Better than nothing, but. damn.

Those leatheries are nice though!! Almost bought skyline seats for $500 to throw in my datsun a couple months backk... wish I had. It really is hard finding decent rice-less seats with any sort of support these days. Good find!

hey for welding on the body of the s12. i would only use a tig or a 110v mig welder. otherwise you might have some trouble especially if you don't have much welding experiance / welded in a wile.  if you do use a 220 turn it down low dont be afraid of the wire speed keep it up and do short bursts. also they do have 220 extension cords. i have a video of me making some nice sheet metal welds with a 220 might help ya out pm me and ill link em up.

DjayS12

Yeah the college just bought a 110V mig welder so welding will be very easy. I will start to weld back my floor after my christmas vacation. It's about time since it've start to snow here!

see my build thread!

NissanNate

Cool wile your welding that you might want to weld up some of the seems like i did on my build(for rigidity and strength). just make sure the seems are very clean. the cocking in the crack (ha ha) expands with heat and will cause porosity in the weld. it get everywhere makes a mess etc.

caulking? lol

that shit does make it a bitch to weld tho.  wire wheel as much off as possible before going at it, there will still be some in the seams but you do what you can.

One thing i did was put some coat hanger wire in the seem as a bridge. in the really deep crevasses that is and after getting as much crap out as i could of course.
