thanks, it was ur idea  but how did ur front setup work out? any rattling? how did u setup the helper spring? was it on top of the coil spring or on the bottem

i got more parts today. i got some short rear shocks from summit for a chevy pick up, i got something in the works, but its a secret

200sxkitcar

On the top, just like you have pictured

Did you see my photos on my photobucket site?  I already have all that stuff loaded up but have not posted it yet on the build thread.  What I did looks exactly like what you did!

did u get any rattling?

200sxkitcar

I do sometimes if the upper strut nut comes loose, I have yet to figure a way to tighten it properly, as it just spins in the camber plates when i try and tighten.  Just go thru and double check to make sure all the nuts are tight, and that the tube itself isn't loose in the housing.  When you tightened the top threaded nut on the housing, did it go snug against the insert?  As in, the insert did not move around at all?
Sterling Picton

as for the insert nut, i got it tight and in have no movement in the insert and i have the top mount nut good and tight. but im worried about when hit a bump or something and the car bounces up and the load is take off the coil-over is it going to rattle?

my little secret
dont know if its been done before

check this out

it for the rear coil-over, so when rise or lower you can adjust the shock with it, to keep the tension on the coil spring

chevy pick up lower shocks 29.99 X2 @ summit racing($60.00)   (dont no the the year) you have to cut the top eye lit & weld a bolt on it. they do have ones with the studed end on it, but dumb and ordered the wrong one
part#   Summit SUM-G7727

homemade adj. bracket 15.00 to make

height adjustable shock

200sxkitcar

Interesting.  I'd be a little concerned about the metal tabs bending, but the concept is definitely there..

You don't need to worry about the coilover coming unloaded over a bump, see, you did it right with the helper spring, as that will keep everything in place if it were to come unloaded.  Regular bumps won't really cause this condition anyhow, its only if your car were to get some solid air or when you lift it off the ground for service will the helper spring actually function, otherwise its totally compressed.

the metal taps are pretty strong, if there not ill just use thicker metal, but i think its stong enought, cause it doesnt hold that much weight

tweaker_s12

today i test fix the adj. shock braket & it looks good  i'd have it done by now, but it hard to get myself out there in the cold & snow   & do it
