« on: 12:03:01 AM / 29-Nov-08 »
so at the J yard i found a clean q45, a newer one. super clean exept the interior leather is nasty worn, but under the hood it looks like a detail shop basically cleaned it

all engines there are 200 bucks
is it possible, with my friend that can fab mildly, welding, etc. to actually pull this off?

where could i get a manual tranny for this? and what price range am i looking at

you would need the wiring harness and ecu of course as well...

a tight fit, it might be a bitch to work on.  definitely some fabbing required

i'll let others who are familiar with this swap into s13s comment on the rest

david, for total cost necessary to get it in and running, you'd be looking at about 2 grand or more. and that is taking into account your cheap price on the engine.

For a manual trans, you'll need the Mazworx adapter kit and a Z32 trans. Otherwise, check out any of the S13/S14 swaps, and keep in mind that the S12 bay is quite a bit shorter.

Edit:
OH! And make sure the VH is the model with metal chain guides and not the plastic ones, it'll be a later model with the good ones. I don't recall the exact years, and you can upgrade them yourself, but newer is always better.

Guy on carolinanissans.com pulled it off for less than 1K, must have fab skills:

If you wanted something cheap that would haul ass in a straight line I'd just drop it in with the automatic. All you would need is a custom driveshaft.
quality > quantity

Fail: because you are probably too stupid to come up with an actual post.

What year is it? Pre 94 engines have chain guide issues, and the Mazworx adapter will not work on the newer VH41DE engine in the newer Q45's.

someone on here has done the swap before then pulled the motor and sold the car so yes it can be done and yes you'll have tpo do quite a bit of fabbing but I think it would be worth it to do I was thinking of doing this swap but I would do it in a notch...
