I wanna start a thread on my other car here. I really need advice; Like; I know what I'm talking about advice!

Pontiac v8; So run kidies:)

I can post a pic of anything I got.

So far;

'70 RAIII block
4-bolt, all ARP
.030 KB fordgies
Eagle 6.625 fordgies
3.75 "N" crank
"E" heads; thats 285 cfm intake, 200 exhaust. Not fucked with yet.
Rattler balancer, hays 30lb

Going solid roller. Luny A2 cam

Put it together; about 550hp at 6.5k.
Looking for 600+. Block can take about 750HP

Who knows their shit?

After this is done, I'm probably going to shove a 13B in my 200.

a tin pan alley

shit, just do the 13b right now!

What intake system are you gonna go with on the Pontiac?

Do you have hood clearance? (need to run a low-ish profile intake, or something a little taller?)

Ratio rockers are a cheap way to bump power.

Basically I think that a really good intake setup will add the extra 50hp or so that you are looking for. A really big single carb will probably do it (800cfm or more carb with a really high flowing dual plane or even a single carb tunnel ram style).

After you get all that settled down, its all in the tuning. Jetting the carb right and setting the timing, so prepare for many dyno runs.

Right now is a Torker 1 and an 800cfm Q-jet. Next is going to be a torker 2 or a victor wit an 850dp.

Rockers are going to be 1.5 full roller. There's no other way to do it. Stamps wont survive. and I run any more lift, and from what i understand there's no more power in it.

ADV 287/295,
.050 254/262
lift 582/582

Going for a different cam doesn't seem to offer more power either. At least not a bigger one.

It pretty much leaves the head-port and the headers for 50 more hp. right now the headers are 1&7/8" primarys wit 4" collectors.

Anyone got a scavange pulse program or experiance with porting?

The Pontiac world is pretty bad with head ports, basically they give you three options; don't touch it, touch it and your heads are junk, or give us $1500 and we'll do it for you. I don't have $1500 for those guys.

The power is in the heads. If you want more you're gonna have to pay for it either in porting what you have or getting a set of aluminum heads. The best bet would be to get the aluminum heads and have them ported.
There are a few companies that make them so you have some choices. The only ones I know of off hand are Edelbrocks, but I know there are a few companies that make them.
You can but up to 1.6 rockers if you want to, but if going with a larger cam didn't help then this won't either. You have reached the choke point of what the heads can give you.

It's hard to see, but there's edges where the machining stops inside the port.

Think I should just smooth the edges?
Smooth the whole runners?
Smooth the whole runners and the chamber?
Try to go all out and port them some?

I could step the headers also; to 2" then to 1&1/8". and make a Tri-y?
Or even try to make the ptimary at least 2" the whole way?

Get rid of that casting flash for sure and blend and smooth the runners. That will get rid of a lot of turbulence and free up some ponies.
You might even benefit from some work around the guide.
