so i guess ill finally post some pics, most are taken during practice because for some reason, the photographer doesnt want to work late sunday so doesnt take pics of the race. oh well. i would have liked some door to door pics of me passing and being passed. next time ill bring a friend with a good camera.
first are some pics of the new logo on the hood. i had the sticker made but im sure the ones the club makes available will look even better! ask arro, i have no inside knowledge, just wanted to represent!

race weekend, practice and qualifying. careful! many pics

and yes, i DO plan on fixing that dent on the rear quarter soon!!!

as promised, dent repair stage 1

a friend generously loaned me his porta power

pushed out the dent

another angle

next step is to smooth out the wrinkles with body hammers, etc and to try and match the paint, or find another way to hide the damaged paint (graphics, different color, etc)

Damn nice car man I'm jealous of ur track time.  And a nice fix too.  Both ur rocker panels are dented?  How'd that happen?

thanks. no, just the passenger side was caved in, ironically by a z31. it happened during the first season i had the car, i had driven it before but finally had gotten comfortable in the car and had gotten into a real dicey race with a white 300z. he could out motor me in the straights but i had him on handling so we were stuck together lap after lap. i could pass him in the twisty bits and he would re-pass me in one of the two straights at hallett. then i would pass him again and so the day went. i finally had kept him behind me down the front straight (we were running clockwise, the track turns are numbered counterclockwise) and throught the 180 degree turns 10 & 11 he divebombed me throught the grass and punted me in the rear quarter. i spun, and so did he. unfortunately i continued to spin, making two full rotations while he only spun once. so i ran him down again and passed him. i cant remember fully, but im sure i only finished 6th or 7th in the race, but when we pulled into the paddock we both had huge grins from all the dicing we did. i shook his hand and said the dent was worth the great racing, just dont do it again. i continued to race, never bothering to fix the dent. now i need to make it look like an s12 and racecar should (especially if i ever want to be a contender for the next calendar!)

Heh I was wondering when you'd get around to the dent  Even with the dent, the car is awesome tho.... I dunno about that track photographer man, he sounds like totally fuckin useless biomatter.

When you get that dent dealt with, have a buddy snap some good action pics. think *calendar*

THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.

update. i was at hallett today working for don (the guy i bought the car from) we had 4 spec miatas to maintain, although it dropped to three after one of his drivers put a rod through the block. i watched the cars in my class run and was jealous because my car needs some attention before i can take it back out, but i took the money i made crewing and ordered a five point harness, muffler, two msd coils, and a spark plug wire kit. with this stuff i should be able to make a race in the next month or so. i cant wait, my last race was more about sorting out the car and making sure everything was working (and fixing the stuff that wasnt) then going for fast laps. once i get my new parts installed i should be back to setting personal fast laps, and there is a prepped early model sentra that needs a good fight!

man, i suck at updating my build threads. i raced the car this year, but in july something broke. i was accelerating out of a 2nd gear corner at about 5k rpm and heard a thud!! looked in the rearview to see a miata dodging metal parts bouncing down the track. the motor had died and made no noise when i hit the start button. i pulled off track and the tow truck driver brought me some metal brackets and told me my starter was hanging beneath the car. after being towed back to the paddock i looked under the hood and saw a 1/4" gap between the motor and tranny. the brackets were motor/tranny mounts. one of the bellhousing tabs was broken.
fast forward to now. i havent touched the car since to concentrate on getting my se on the road. but i picked up a ka24de from a friend a few days ago that is in really good shape (new seals, good compression, act stage 2 clutch with 5k miles) that is going to live in my racecar. the ca needs to come out anyway to see what caused the problem and i need a few more ponys to keep up with the miatas on the straights, so this is my answer. i will keep and refresh the ca so i can have an scca legal motor for the future. but will run next season with a little more go! pics will follow as progress is made.

Yeah how does swapping your motor out for the kade work with the SCCA class regulations? I was under the impression one of the rules in your class was that you had to use the stock motor.

it doesnt work with scca. im running in a local series, COMMA, because its cheaper and closer. their rules are much looser. im going to refresh the scca legal motor for possible scca use in the future
