Tedious?  This coming from a person who uses the word twice in a sentence?  I laughed repeatedly...

Wait so you got 355whp from Ecu Tuning, Exhaust, and Intake? Is the boost higher than stock?

As long as he Doesnt shifting above 3000 rps rain wont effect him much. trust me i live in oregon  has rain almost everyday for the last 6 months.

Freaking nice numbers though, Im assuming you have a r200 rear end? If you do what type of power can it take?

That is correct.  I have U.P. Garage's FMIC, Rad, downpipes/racing cat. with ViPec Ecu.  The boost was put up a couple lbs more than stock.  But the rest was really timing and fuel.

So are you using the RB20 tranny or you original tranny with the RB20 bellhousing bolted on?? Correct me if I"m wrong, but the rb20 and vg30e transmission are the same... and there was a reason why nissan developed a new 5 spd for the z32 tt and rb25/26 powered skyline.... Any issue with so much torque and that transmission?

Oh and btw What a nice build that is, seriously that thing will be a bitch to keep straight while pushing it!

*note:  I have an SE.  My mounting setup does create for a slightly different setup than using a 4-cylinder S12.  Actually, a 4-cylinder S12 is much easier to do the swap in.

You cannot use the stock RB26 trans for the transfer case really messes with the underside of the S12.  I am sure if you really wanted to, you could reshape the underside to accommodate this, but there isnt a need.  That and the fact that with the placement I have of the engine, the fwd aspect of the awd setup the GTRs have, is non-existent.   The S12s geometry is off by quite a bit, unlike that of the S13s and such.  The only way to fit the awd setup and the engine properly is to literally cut the firewall and shove the engine further back into the cabin area behind the dash.  It would have to be back a decent amount, so that would require quite a bit of engineering and loss/re-engineering of the dash components.  Not to mention, loss of strength in the framework of the car.

I know there was a reason as to why Nissan built a different trans. for the Z32/25 and such.  However, with the current power I have in the car, the RB20 trans. is fine.  That trans is a bit stronger than people think.  I am not especially aggressive nor do I take my car out on tracks yet.  In the future I will, and swapping a 25 trans will be inevitable.  But I was a little late when I went to get my 25 trans. and decided to stick with my original plan.  Sort of like the fact I'm still using the r200 open.  It may seem counter, but it works really well.  I had a Z31 clutch-type, but sold that and had my eyes on a Nismo.  Dont know the exact reason why that got left out of the swap, but it will be going in shortly.  But with the open, it helps to compensate greatly for the trailing arm suspension.  And again counter to normal thought, there is not much loss of traction nor problems with torque and such.  I did make 285 torque at the wheels.  Pretty healthy.  I'm sure with a different transmission and diff., it may help improve, but for the moment, I need to reacquaint myself with the car's new parameters.  I already have a hard enough time staying at a reasonable speed on the streets.  And as for keeping it in a straight line, it's a little throttle control and compensating.  I'm playing around with the car and how the dynamics have changed since I'm still decently stock.  I will be swapping over to S13, but I want to see how the S12 can take it at the moment.

Thx for the info, but as far as the original tranny, I wasn't speaking about the RB26 AWD one, but the FS5W71C trans that came stock on your SE.  I knew you weren't using the AWD transmission, as I was the one asking a couple of months ago if you still had a use for it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rb20det transmission is an FS5W71C, the same as the VG30E n/a, mkII s-12, s-13, etc... but with an RB clutch bell and USDM s-13 ratios

*Edit*

Oh and when you end up swapping for the FS5R30A, would you mind to give some info on the difference between that one and the FS5W71C, can you use the stock tranny mount, is the total lenght different, how about shift linkage and yoke size? Custom drive shaft? That would be very helpful....

TurboNotch

the R30A is a whole nother monster. bigger overall, uses a diff output spline. and i think its longer. however it was used in(that i know of) 3 diff cars, the Z31 turbo from 87-89, all Z32's and RB25 Skylines. the RB25 ones and Z31 one use the normal internal linkage whereas the Z32 has an external type. I have a friend with a 25 car and one with a turbo Z31 so i can measure the tranny lengths and post them up later.

Yes, will do about the info.  As far as a direct comparison between the two in a swap.

I can tell you though, I am not using stock trans mount.  Neither Skyline nor S12.  It is a custom mount.  When swapping over though, I do know a new trans mount will have to be made as well as adjusting and cutting/welding/massaging the trans. tunnel.  I may have to get a new drive shaft made but cannot tell until I am at that time and mounting everything.

the splines are diff so you will at least have to change the yoke.

@ Ju_S12_Turbo: Not a clue to be honest how many times.  What I am aware is that the items in question have been in my possession for a while now.  I have informed the individual that they are in my possession and supplied pictures as well.  They were satisfactory and the deal is being negotiated by both parties.  I am currently waiting for confirmation of what was the tentative agreement.

So, as many of you are aware, I currently have a Euro spec rear end to accommodate either my Aussie, UK, or German number plates.  Saying that, I may be tempted to swap back to the US spec rear.  I mean, after obtaining this, how can I not.  It's either horde this or help another out who is trying to restore their car to OEM standards as if it was straight off the showroom.

The box it came in.  Yes, OEM over 20yrs ago.

The number plate centre.

Closer look for detail.

@ maxpow...i love you brah! Nobody has been banned in a long time...and there is no reason to be banning anyone for awhile. I saw you got warned for spamming the shoutbox though...whats up with that? As far as colin's seller status that is between him and arro..and they should hopefully be working that out very soon in an adult manner.

@colin...those tailights belong in a museum!!!!
