Want To Sell Section Rules Update.
« on: 09:12:53 AM / 31-Mar-10 »
There are two things I'd like to bring up in this particular announcement.

FIRST, a lot of the newer members (or non-regular posters) are not reading the rules for the Want to Sell section (or any other section for that matter).  I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you (I know some of you don't need it) to please make a point to always read the section description and forum section rules (or generic rules if there are no specific rules) BEFORE posting in any section.

SECOND, after quite a bit of conversing with other moderators and Arro, we have all unanimously decided and created a revised version of the Want to Sell section rule #8.  The new rule is displayed below.  As you all know, the Want to Sell section is one area where we take a VERY proactive approach to try to keep everything organized for the potential buyers.  This not only helps us keep track of that section, but helps YOU make a sale more efficiently.

Quote
Rule #8: "BUMPING" IS NOT ALLOWED.
Do NOT "bump" your own thread. Only ONE "reminder post" can be created after 30 days have passed since the creation of the original post. The purpose of said "reminder post" is to make people aware that items are still for sale. In the "reminder post", you must RE-list remaining items, with any price revisions. ANYTHING LESS THAN RELISTING ITEMS AND PRICES IS NOT PERMITTED. We will not tolerate any new replies created just for the sake of getting the thread to the top (ttt) of the page. Violating this rule will result in an account warning, and thread deletion.

If you have new information, want to update remaining items for sale, or wish to lock your thread, an addition within less than a month's time is permitted, provided that the first post of the thread also be updated. Should a user be suspected of withholding information for the sake of bumping a thread, not only will the thread be deleted and the account issued a warning, further action may be taken.

30 days is a bit excessive, dont you think? bumping once a week or two should be allowed, imho...

Nah... what it allows is reconsideration of prices and redoing of the thread to clean it up. I support this fully (Specially in the cases such as mine, davids, Draconis, and others too)

Take my FS thread for example. I have 90,000,000,000 things (Or the PLANET pluto) to add to it... If I just added them they would never be seen, and the whole deal would be very messy, I know for a fct that I have the same parts in there two or three times

Jay has the idea down pretty well.

Its not excessive when you really think about it. And to clue you in more as to why the rule is as it is, i'll give you some points here that were why we decided on what we did.

1) A month is about how long a post stays on the first page of the WTS section as it is (yes this is not ALWAYS true, but most of the time it is).
2) The general purpose is, as Jay said, to allow people to clean up posts by revisiting and reposting an updated version of the first post in a new post at that 30 day mark, not "bump" them.
3) We want to encourage buyers to look at all the first page threads when looking for an item, rather than just the ones that get bumped and/or have new posts recently.

Here is the bottom line -- if it's been a few weeks, and nobody has bought your stuff, then either nobody needs what you have, or nobody wants to buy for the price you are offering.

Now, what this rule DOES allow is discussion in the thread of the items and whatnot... so if in the course of discussion you decide to cut the price down, fair enough.

What we are discouraging is, as Ben suggested, people bringing their thread back up to the top just because nobody wanted to buy their stuff.

Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.
