If I am reading this correctly, you are asking as to why over here in the States we constantly say to buy a driveshaft when doing a swap?  And you are thinking it is because we only received a KA?

In our S13s and S14s we did received the KA.  The assumed SR that is usually in the S13 and S14 never came in it.

Also, when we do our swaps, the stock drivelines we have usually are not of the same length as that of the swapped engine/trans.

Does that help?

Depends on which RB transmission you are using, the RB25 and RB26 use something along the lines of a 1.5" OD 31 spline slip yoke - this is non standard but there is a part made by SPICER that will fit, the easiest way to source it is via thedriveshaftshop.com, the RB20 transmission uses the same sized yoke as the KA.

As for whether you need to lengthen or shorten it - that all depends on where you place the motor.
