Usual Twice-annual "why's So-and-so Banned?" Thing
« on: 04:32:36 PM / 27-Jul-10 »
Just realized we are down a VG car on the forum... bummer

I won't mention any names but what happened? Is it easy to get banned from this site?

I didn't know this person in particular but it was a build that was very interesting to me. Not a whole lot of VG notches out there.

I sent you a pm...i am going to lock this for the time being to not cause drama....drama free zone! If anyone wants to know something like this they can ask a moderator or an admin via pm...and if any of us decide to add something to this or something we can...but leaving this open for right now is most likely going to cause drama...

Thanks in advance for understanding.

Tedious?  This coming from a person who uses the word twice in a sentence?  I laughed repeatedly...

Just wanted to add something to this.

This is a list of those who are legitimately banned from this forum (spambots removed from the list, wasnt worth putting them in the list).

Code: [Select]
asparagus
jeffwins24
Crowbar60
demonic s12
New2Drifting

Real long list, isn't it.  And this site has been around since, I believe, 2002?

It takes a large number of repeat offenses to end up banned. Every one of the people on that list have mile long warning log.

Heck, one of the people on that list has been told he was welcome to come back if he took a moment to speak to Arro.  (Though I don't believe that offer is on the table anymore, but it could be for all I know.)

I'm tired of a VERY small minority causing people to get involved in drama, and that is why I decided to post this.

I don't care if it gets discussed. Not really. I'm way to DGAF for my own good maybe, but whatever. So the thread is opened. For now.

The "offer" is still on the table, but I suspect he's to emo to do it. Or he thinks he's too big for us, whatever. But maybe I'm wrong, who knows (maybe he would surprise me lol). And no, I don't mean Demonic.

Like Ben said. The people that are banned really effed up lots and lots of times. And I only tend to be involved in some of the incidents because at some point I personally end up objecting to bad behavior, and they turn their guns towards me personally. Which of course is a mistake.

It sucks to lose an S12 enthusiast here, especially if their car is nice, but it's better because (as you may have noticed) we've been relatively drama-free ever since we started actually taking permanent action against repeat offenders. Nobody is above the rules just because a few people think that rulebreaker's car is awesome. We're a community of people, not of cars.

Not everyone on here is a young kid interested in flame wars, super-tastic hellaflush wheel fitment, or drifting (although no offense to the younger people here). We actually do have some people in their 30's, 40's, and even a couple lurkers in their 50's believe it or not. And we have LOTS of people who are not fanboys or interested in auto salon trends... they just want to get it running or make some more power. And they come here because we aren't based on a popularity contest, or because we are mostly drama-free, because we don't just feature showy cars, and because we have the largest collection of S12 information on the world wide web.

And we aim to keep it that way. If we lose a few people in the process, oh well.

And yes, one of them is allowed back, he just needs to ask.

Hella flush and all associates should be gunned down for brainwashing people into thinking a 225 and lots of camber is proper wheel fitment. THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.

The first one I knew of, the second I can kinda guess. One I've only seen the name pop up a few times.

I do miss some of the old members, the ones that didn't cause drama. They were funny guys, influenced me to try my first fish taco. Some of the threads were epic!!!!
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

hahah he's talking about PREMO, and he's not only welcome here, but a really cool guy. Prolly go hit him up soon for more fish taco goodness... Mahi-mahi tacos FTW.

Premo got distracted by his Jeep, and he's been busy livin' his life on the beach. Maybe one of these days he'll get another SE and get back into the game.

It's pretty much the same with some of those guys who used to post on here but don't anymore... they just got BUSY livin' life. They got married, had kids, and/or just got tired of fighting the power of time, dealing with old 80's cars and cracked interior pieces, difficult-to-find parts, and little or no aftermarket.... and they bought reliable, newer vehicles that satisfied their enthusiast needs and more practical needs.

Not everyone is as cool as Keith and can maintain a slick lookin/tuned S12, a practical performance sedan, and married life in his middle years  You're awesome, Keith

But Keith would say the same as what I just did... most of the original gurus from here are gone for the right reasons for them.... it's too bad, they were the original international Club-S12 crew.

Missed. But not forgotten. And NOT surpassed IMO.

Honestly.... I feel exactly the way you do. Many people do great things with their cars on here. Unfortunately, it seems that once in awhile, someone on here does something really great with their car, and begins to believe that they're above the rules of decency and respect... that we need them, and so they can get away with acting like an ass. It's unfortunate. But it's exactly why two most notable banned people were put outside the house.

I promise you all tho, the staff DID try everything they could think of to resolve things outside of the public forum, with no success. I'm usually not the one to make the decision to ban someone, I always defer to a long discussion with three or more of the moderators and a vote is taken. Only one time did I instantly ban someone, for a number of months, and I recently unbanned them and welcomed them back into the community. And it only took so long because of finals and other crap (sorry dude  )

heh, i dont know really any of them that well, I know I have my own opinions on what i think shouldve happened, but its all good.

Meh, I just thought maybe people realizing only 4 people have ever been permantently banned might slow down some of the negativity? at least thats what im hoping.  I mean hell, look at some of the other car sites, they ban people on a weekly basis lol.
