Se's At Autocross. What Do You Think?
« on: 06:14:07 PM / 08-Aug-10 »
So last year I pick up a Se with one thing in mind. Autocross.
I went out with a buddy in his FX16 shit box and had a blast. I was hooked.
I never had chance to make a run because my se would not pass smog. My car had to have tags for me to run and the window temp was a no go.
I guess what I'm asking is do you think a Se or any S12 would make a good car for autocross. It would never be in a class with V8's or miata's. It would run with Na fc Rx-7, na 944's, z31 and a few others. What do you think. Thanks.

I autox a kade notch...the engine swap puts it in smod...so i have to compete against a late 90s mustang cobra with a supercharger on slicks with a crap ton of suspension....i am very out classed....but i have a blast...s12s are fun to autox.

haha me modding would be a disaster.....Id get all power hungry and  demand n00dz from everyone. Then make all the canadian s12er's come here  and massage my feet and make me jello pudding.

Actually....mod powers plz?!?!?!  0:)

Tedious?  This coming from a person who uses the word twice in a sentence?  I laughed repeatedly...

FIrst my rims are horrible, than there ok when painted black , now my cars horrible, now my fenders are to much after i was told i couldnt do it.... Lol club s12 ftw.....  Only here have Ive been told they look like shit..... SOrry its not bone stock with crown vic rims running the stock vg making 130whp and looks generic like every other one. My car looks dope ive been told this a billion times on local forums....

hahaha...it does suck...but i have so much fun autoxing this car. The first time I autoxed the car I put it in the same class as an s13 coupe with springs and we ran the same exact times...we even swapped cars and still ran the same time...my brother even ran the same time as us in my car...it was weird...but it meant that the car was right there with an s13 and i was happy about that.

Sorry to bump this thread but since I wanted basically this same discussion for Auto x I didn't want to start a completely new topic.

Anyway, I've had a good experience in an s13 Autoxing before and really liked the light, rwd platform (Although, I have to give props to the honda CRX).  Now, due to the nature of engine swaps I'm basically in SM with the 200SX (which sounds a lot sexier than it really should be).  Anyway, I suppose competing with this car is going to be something new and exciting for me to look forward to and I hope to see some really good times posted by her (especially when it comes to putting some very fast newer models to shame).

One thing I'm sure to miss is the H-stock class I could race in with the CRX (or the G-stock the s13 was in).  All of the time, all I had to do was push the car through the course and it would come out on top of its class but now that I"m building for the eventual goal of competing on a track I'm going to find myself in a new world where I'll be a small fish in a bigger sea.  It's fun to be making this move and I'm glad I'm doing it in an s12 because I think it's really going to stand out in a crowd of newer vehicles that teenagers are begging their parents for.

screw that stang man, their weight will keep them at bay.  My old CRX used to burn Stang's at those things all the time.  Pick up a good suspension and watch the rich folk cry.
