86 sr20 powered s12 build - 2 years later on the road!

picked up a new s12 two days ago. saved it from certain death, it was sitting under a tree for 3 years

86 turbo.
Ca18et- appeared to have a 20e manifold on it? half the engine was in the trunk.
super clean body.
talking lady works, digital dash seems to function well.
engine bay seems to have been recently painted:

just got it running about an hour ago. the SR is a blast to drive. still need to wire up coolant temp. maybe figure out how to make the tach work. has anyone ever done it with the SR and the digital dash?

daily/drift/autox/pick up sluts/whatever. just a car i picked up on a impulse buy lol.

broke the exhaust cam sprocket clean off somehow.

big fail.

it started running like poo after hauling ass down my street. then wouldnt restart. timing light was all over the place, then figured out why lol.

everything but the cam still looks good, some metal shavings on the head, but i dont think it caused any more damage than that. should be able to swap cams and be good.

so, i just ordered some crower 264 cams.

just picked up some cams, install tommorow morning. i wanna see why that failed too. possible cam bearing seized?

PS: when i was doing the wiring off your  KA swap guide, all of the wires were in different pins then you had in the pics on my car. dont know if thats relevent info for a noob tryin to do a swap, i just thought it was interesting. i took pics if you think its worth posting in that thread lol

Your car is an 86, so there are lots of variables during that year.  The stickies at the top are for CA20 cars too, but either way show me what you've got!

update?

lost a bearing about two weeks ago. fairly certain i had oil pressure issues. oh well right.

so, rebuild:

cp pistons
arp head studs
apexi headgasket
eagle rods
BC 272 cams
BC springs retainers and valves
freddy intake manifold
turbo manifold custom built by element racing.
disco potato (probably bigger down the road)

car will be tuned on NISDA, using a hondata s300 chip on a honda p06 ecu. basically they make a distributor fit, and run a nissan engine on a honda ecu. its pretty cool IMO.

goal 300hp with the disco, 400 + down the road.

motor is at the shop right now being cleaned, assembly will start next week once i get all the parts in.
