Waylon Deno's 1984 Hatch Build
« on: 01:00:49 AM / 02-Jan-11 »
Hi all.  Many of you might have seen me on here before or read my other build thread(http://club-s12.org/v3/index.php?topic=23766).  If not, my name is Waylon Deno.  I'm a wanna-be pro driver.  I spent most of 2010 drifting a ca18det powered 85 S12 hatch.  All work done by myself and a couple close friends here and there of course.  Heres what it looked like

until this happened in round 3 of the Vegas ProAm

After that i spent a while just goin to work and gettin drunk in my off time.  Then i picked up this gem from socal (for cheap too)

Its an 84 with ca20e, auto trans, and solid axle. Plans are to do the suspension, 5 speed conversion, weld the diff and rag on the stock motor til it cries for mommy.
Then it'll get this

VH45DE, 4.5 litre V8. Picked up this 94 Q45 the other night. Was wrecked as u can tell.  Motor runs great though.  You can even still drive it if u dont mind tires rubbin so bad u can only do 5mph hahaha.  3 of 4 corners have bent suspension.  Picked it up for so cheap it should be illegal.. but the title checks out hehe.

Well anyways thx for checkin out my new build thread.  Hopefully this car will be a lot of fun.

Cant wait to see what you do with this one.
I keep my car cleaner then my room
Fuck you then, I'll take my movies, box of chocolates, bottle of wine and chloroform somewhere else.
Adding an SSD to that is kinda like strapping a 3 inch stainless HKS exhaust on a geo metro.

Hittin the bottle to help deal with the ongoing pain of that tragic day haha. On the bright side your new project is gonna be way more awesome in my opinion. SRA + vh45de = epic.

Remember iggy before i purchased my vq35 for my s12 i was looking into a VH45. I did ALOT of research, measurements etc so if you want what i know hit me up i can pm you my number.  Just remember largest problem with VH is oil starvation most say even oil pan baffels only help but DO NOT fix the issue. Some say dry sump is only reliable way of keeping your motor from blowing up :(
Anyway man ALWAYS love your threads so i hope you can tackle what i chickened out on lol.

thx guys
if silverbox is the one who was doing it for drag with the two speed auto tranny then ya i saw it.
Seems to me like the oil starvation thing isnt as big a deal as most peeps make it.  similar to the head drainback problem with the dohc CA.. not really a big deal.  check out v8nissans.com  I'm going to be modding the oil pan anyways tho.  baffled and gated for oil then shaved shorter to keep it away from the ground since the engine will be slammed low in the bay.  gonna wing the pan too to add a couple quarts capacity.
Motor will be coming out of the Q soon. kinda tough right now tho cuz my truck is fubar

Nice dude, this project seems really cool.  I've always really liked your other thread since I to have an s12 with ca18det that I enjoy drifting as well.  Always kind of looked at your thread as a guideline for how to make it good haha.  One of these days hopefully I'll meet you.  Probably on 12/12/12 or something.   Good luck with the VH ^^.

mine is on the other site, along with my rhd swap stuff! just payed the freight on that which is going to be awesome! what are you planning to do for mounts,  i am probboly going to use my degree for some personal use and make some nice billet pieces so i dont have to worry with the welds flexing but who knows on that i am always up to seeing other approach to a problem

the mounts will be pretty simple. just some 4-link bushings with tube and plate.  nothing special

i see u got a half cut aussie s12 on the way to KY. what about a VH?

have found a q45 for 450 for sale and am just waiting on my school money to be deposited lol.  traded the rb for a s14 shell on coilovers and have to find a ka to throw in it and that will fund my build, also doing a rather unique trans conversion that a few people have done, but it isnt nearly as popular as the z32 trans swap, but it will allow me to not have to do trans tunnel mods
