^i think not actually, you only get understeer from you go tooooo soft. which is why most aftermarket coilovers use a softer rear spring. kinda like the same as less tire pressure increases traction i guess. and quite contrary to the old belief, drift cars NEED rear traction too. they actually be set up like grip cars in order to be real competitive. more traction = faster accel. while on throttle/faster decel. while off throttle. = better/easier handling = a MUCH more predictable car.

so since we can in fact use S13 rear calipers, i would only assume we can also use S14/S15/J30/Q45 rears as they're also a bolt-in upgrade for S13s? just flip them?
this seems too good to be true IMO -.-

@David B

i think pulling the rear sway off would help a great deal with rear traction, but thats just me.

i agree with the softer rear and needing traction, when i say soft i dont mean too soft. but withlower HP you need to increase oversteer. with higher HP you want to sorta decrease it in a sense, you NEED traction to hook up your tires to keep up with the guy in front of you, or get away from the guy behind you. but you can adjust some of that through tires and tire PSI. for the most part. you want predictable suspension. drifting isnt about being slammed with no suspension travel. though it helps with lower hp settings

IDK about the q45/s15 setup, my setup, the pads sit a few mill offset off the rotor. but has never been a problem to me. i cant remember at the moment. though thinking in my head i dont think it would work because the s110 bracket wouldnt hold a bigger rotor. or even bolt up at all

more news. they havent sold a set in years and they have to get the right bushing size, he mentioned sending me some options. and explained sept. first when the website is going up all the s12 parts should be on there. i talked about it to him about owners not being sure of knowing

@Athens - did you ever get those Porterfield shoes in and installed? if so, how are they?

Athens

Waiting on a price for new rotors and drums, if I have enough I'm going to get them with it, if not then I'll have them in 2 weeks. Would have had them earlier but needed to buy an engine lift to get my ka I bought from my friend out of his car before he took it to the scrappers.

Also, when converting to s110 your e-brake won't work very well, if at all.

Do you know if the s110 e-brake could be used?

Dr.Steels

I just bought an s12. Until reading this I was unaware that SRA s12 existed (Yes I am new to these). I am in canada and my car is an 85. Therefore it *may* be an SRA or at least this is what I have been able to find. I don't have the car at my place just yet. My question is if I do have an SRA what are my options for lowering the car? I would preffer to have a set of adjustable coil overs. Do I have any options or am I shit out of luck?

^  You probably don't have an SRA car,  only 1984 non-turbo cars came with the H190 solid axle.  And if you can fab,  you can put coilovers on them I'm certain.  A guy named Jay on here knows how to do it,  as well as a few others,  I'm gonna ask him/them about it in detail when I have all the parts I need.

My car is non-turbo, Ive read that *some* 85 canadian cars had them, Which lads me to believe that I may have a SRA.

Just take a look at it. Then you'll know.

if i choose to use the ford 9" axles the ford DIFF inst to big to use with the s12 housing? or i have to swap the entire rear end for the fords one? and sorry if i dont get it im new here

Jay

Whole ford end. There's no way it will fit in the H190 housing. Not to mention axle length and other factors.

The rule of thumb is that you increase the roll stiffness of the non-driven wheels, and decrease the roll stiffness of the driven wheels. My CRX had a 30mm bar in the back, giving me that awesome "dog-pissing" action in hard corners; conversely, Mustangs run at the top class of Solo2 often run with no rear sway bar at all.

Best suggestion I can give is to make or get some adjustable sway bar end-links and experiment. I'm going to be doing that at some point to adjust between hard and loose surface traction. Increasing the length of the end-links will increase the effective stiffness of the bar, while decreasing it will "soften" it. If you still need more stiffness, go to a larger bar and start the process again.

Oh, and playing with tire pressures front to rear will also change the bar's effective stiffness.

thnk jay, so i can make someone make the ford housing ligther with custom axles but with the same strengh, but can i use the 4-links mount from my car like cuttin the mounts on the H190 housing and weld them on the ford 9" so i can use the 4-link set up or i have to use those leaf type mounts from the ford?

does any of u guys have a how to o what i really be nneding for that swap?

Jay

Yes. You absolutely could use the stock 4 link setup by welding the H190 tabs on to the 9" axle itself.

No, there is no how to. You're pretty much on your own. But it's fairly simple.

How will it attach to car? (4 link, already decided, modified on axle)
How wide will it be? (Up to you)
What braking system will it use? (up to you)
Parking brake modification to use new brake setup (Pretty easily done)
What kind of spring/shock setup? (I'd stick to the stock on axle setup. Make it work with relative ease)
Custom driveshaft.

Done.

And that would be bad fucking ass.

And yes, like he said you will need a custom driveshaft. But wow, what a beefy rear end it would have! This is why the S12 SRA's 4-link is so great. It's so simple and far superior to the crappy panherd bar of the Corolla.

THAT IS EASY, anyone can camber a skinny as tire till it dosnt rub. Now fitting an 11 with a 315 on stock fender with reasonable camber, that is fitment. And looks, and performs better than both.

So are there any LSD options for the s110 rear end? I'm pretty sure I have a H165 since I have a 1980 s110. Just wondering what my options for LSD would be other than swapping the entire rear end. Also, if I swap out my rear calipers to s13 calipers,  do I still utilize the stock parking brake linkage,  or the s13 linkage? Thank you for the help!
