well you know that I was on a quest for a JNC. in my search i came across the a12 engine.
I had not know about this engine but it came in the sunnys. A guy is running a boosted one on basic stock internals and making
165 hp and has gobs of room for more hp and airflow.
but the coolest thing thing of all in my book:

if you haven't guessed it yet, its the size!! that thing is tiny. its an inline four that's carbed.
My first thing was to go check the curb weight of the cars it came in.   2000lbs!
Curb weight of the s12 per wiki 2600 lbs. I think it could be done and done well!
whats even more is the gas mileage on these things is high 30's in the city so with some tuning and planning you could have a carbed 4 at 30mpg pushing 200hp and be lightweight before any weight-shaving mods are done.....

here's the guys engine I was talking about

You can build an na a series for peanuts just like an l series also, and they are reliable as fuck. But that is because it is old simple cave man engine tech.

Tedious?  This coming from a person who uses the word twice in a sentence?  I laughed repeatedly...

because it got 30mpg in the car it came in, doesn't mean you'll get 30mpg in an s12.  the s12 is heavier and will rob some of that MPG.  I know it may not seem like a lot, but adding 50 pounds to my pathfinder (tire weight) reduced my mpg from 20 to 15.

BoostedVG (in regards to people hating on the VG) - Me thinks they were not the mechanic they thought and blamed it all on the engine.

Colonol Gustard - youre one of the few people that represent the s12 chassis like a boss!

I expected to lose some mpg's but its a fair tradeoff. I bet 85 octane is a treat to this engine lol, so 91 would be fine dinning for it. ill take 200hp in a 2000 lbs car at 28/30 or hell even 200 at 25/28 is better than what my 02 civic was getting and what my z gets. plus as I said, this engine would take the s12 down to sub 2000lbs. seriously, you can set a complete engine on a milk crate!

silvertone: I bet it you calculated better rim/tire combination for gas mileage you get some of that back. rpf1's lol....just putting it out there.

I'm not intending on being a dick, I truly am not, but you probably should get the car first...

true. and dually noted. But, doesnt mean I cant start planning.

But, in recent developments. this is a dead end. turns out the 1200 is actually closer to 1600lbs
and the engine I thought was an a12 was an a15 that was twin charged. doesnt mean it cant still work, but a lot more info is needed.
Still stuck on the qr25deR though.

I really wanna see that one new mexican dude actually do that QR25 swap into his 12.......

A-series are ok, id be more inclined into a built L20B or 3T-C though.

It kind of does.

Again, not trying to be a dick, but without having actual dimensions and specs for an unattempted swap, any plan cannot possibly progress farther than speculation.

^a12 is waaay smaller than a KA.
if they can fit it in the bay of a 1200 ute, and reversely fit a Ka in the bay of a 1200, and on top of that we can shoehorn an rb or vq in the bay of an s12, then an engine that is dimensionally almost half the size of a KA can fit in our bay. I know your not saying that I did, but, I didn't just look at a picture of an engine, read the specs and say "oh hey that would be cool in an s12." I did the math.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

imagine a ka and a vg as women. I prefer the one that had less hands on it. The ka is a loose prostitute that every one and their brother knows lol.

^ still most likely gonna be a Qr!
I just like typing my thoughts on alternative engines that MAKE SENSE in the s12.
Especially for those of us that take part in Motorsports in our DD's

an a15 turbo'd if done right would make an awesome all-arounder.
a qr25de would be like a turbo ka s12 on a diet. start lightening the drive train and it would be a beast.
Find coilovers that inspire confidence and learn to drive the s12 like its mean to be driven (adapt to its handling characteristics) and I bet the s12 would kill some of the other curve and T/T monsters.
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

came across this in the forum that I was asking info about the A12. turns out the guy that first replied may have been blowing smoke up my ass. I wasnt gonna be rude and argue because hes a moderator but you know.
Any ways here is the reply someone else left for me:
"I was making just shy of 200 hp and 280 nm of tourque with a supercharged a14. all stock internals. It lasted for years. I have seen a turbocharged A12 on the dyno puting out over 250 hp. all he did was put some injection and a big arsed turbo on a stock engine. I dont think it would have lasted very long"

I pm'd the guy so I could get more info like gas mileage and any other issues, so we shall see.
