It all started back in 2006 junior year in highschool, a bunked day of school which led me to the junkyard for s13 parts. I layed my eyes on this 1984 Datsun (by nissan lol) 200sx not even knowing what it really was at the time! I looked underneath to find solid rear axle and i knew this thing had potential. Ofcourse i didnt have even 1500 in my life savings at the time, leaving the bone yard that day i was sure this car was destine for the crusher. Years went by i got myself tied up in the s13 game, owned one in highschool and purchased another in late 2008 which i still own to this day. I also always wanted to own a b13 just as a daily so i bought one in florida last year, well anyways i landed myself at the scrapyard to get some interior plastics (for the b13) and just kinda free roaming i found the old s12 i had seen 6 years ago! Feel in love with this thing and after pleading with the guy to sell me it as a whole car (or what was left of it) i was shortly thereafter cruising down the highway with it on the trailer in my rearview. Bought it for 400 dollars mostly gutted no headliner, carpet, rear seats, alot of dents, flat tires and lr was completely missing this is how i found it..

With this car now in my hands i finally have the chance to build what ive always had pictured in my head, just a super low, wide, loud badass drift missle. First thing i did was throw a set of rollers on it i had hanging around and still it took me and a couple buddies about 10-15 minutes to get it to this spot in the driveway due to both drums being locked up solid.

Im starting this build from the ground up, first things first removed engine and trans, dented/rotted front fenders, fully gutted the interior including about 40lbs of sound deadening.

What my plans are:
-Buy ls400 front sump 1uzfe with adapter plate mate to a sohc ka trans
-Custom make motor mounts and trans crossmember
-Convert front suspension to s13 and run coilovers front&rear
-Retrofit ford 8.8 solid rear axle with disc
-Paint inside and install two full bucket Brides
-Gut the trunk area and remove rest of sound deadening
-Get custom driveshaft made
-Beat the piss out of it

Heres what ive accomplished so far..

Picked up the diff from a 2000 Ford explorer at a local junkyard for $250 and bought another passenger side axle for $50

Ford 8.8 on top Datsun h190 on the bottom

Chopped 2 and 15/16ths out of the drivers axle tube, squared it up and mig welded it back together

Made a custom coilover setup from coils/sleeves purchased on ebay lol should allow me to run and eibach spring in the future though

The new total length of the diff is about 3/8ths of an inch shorter than the h190, the process of cutting all the mounts off the datsun and ford differentials sucked and i dont have pictures. If this is something you want to take on yourself buy a oxygen/acetelyne setup and a grinder theyre a must. I put a new radius on every bracket so it would fit on the ford axle tubes which measure 3 inches in diameter, after alot of measuring and head scratching with the help of my father heres the outcome..

First time bolting it up all went well, had a little clearance issue but nothing to lose sleep over..

the amount of effort and do-it-yourselfing that goes into our cars never ceases to amaze me haha.

Hope i dont loose too many people here on my rim/tire setup . Since the whole wheel fitment thing got popular like any other enthusiast ive looked at hundreds of pictures and different setups, sometimes it almost just gets too much to decide exactly what i want.  After looking at many bosozoku rides from japan suddently massive dish and offset started to grow on me. Picked up some 15x10's with -44 offset for 100 bucks in mint shape and also some cragar d windows 15x8's -12 2 for 30 bucks, total cost 130 for six wheels im on a budget here so nothing flashy about this setup..All tires mounted on these wheels will be used free stuff i get from work which means skinny width high sidewall tires, but anyways ill let the pics speak for themselves. Wont be rolling with them white all satin black now..

Built a budget bead blaster for some super stretching action
Bolted up the rear wheels and then cut a huge hole in the floor for the differential to clear and sat the car on the ground for the first time with the ford 8.8, and yes i will be running flares  :grinwink:

Just want to thank anyone who has checked in on my build or commented, everyday some thought goes into this project ..defenitly going to stay busy and ill keep it updated. Just finished cleaning up most of my front end setup ill be using s13 spindles, s13 ball joints pressed into the s12 arms, and 300zx 5x114 hubs. Still not exactly sure what im going to use for tie rods and whats compatible, im also still on the hunt for some s13 coilovers. A couple days ago i went back to the yard i got this car at and bought a trunk lid off a mk2 which is in good shape, i think im really lucky to find another notch trunk lid around here..Iggy ill be using a 1uzfe lexus v8/nissan 5 speed just stock for now, my main focus is to just get it in and running maybe some power upgrades later on.

Adding an SSD to that is kinda like strapping a 3 inch stainless HKS exhaust on a geo metro.

When you get a chance can you PM me the oem paint code for that notch :D!

I swear almost every one of these cars has potential even if it sat at a scrap yard for that long.  I love that stupid low, wide drift beater style, looks sweet man I'm following this thread!

Spoolinups13

Picked up a 1990 ls400 last night! Bought for 500 bucks and put it through its paces on  the way home lol, had no problem smoking the tires and sounded like something wicked with the exhaust leak. This car was pretty much just what i was looking for, the body is hammered and the front end is all out of wack but the motor still seems to run smooth minus an idle issue when cold and the check engine light being on. Im gonna work on fixing its little issues before pulling it but here she is.... :yay!:

Uh oh we got another v8 build on our hands seems like the toyota v8 is the way to go lately.....

Spoolinups13

Im a nissan guy at heart and alot of people are questioning why im not going with a vh45, but after working on toyotas for 3 years im starting to like them more and more not to mention i have access to all the wiring diagrams toyota, lexus, scion.

Hey I'm not hating just notice guys going more with the toyo v8 rather than the vh doesn't matter either way really it's going to be an awesome build....

IggyEGuana
