2 weeks time for a 1uz swap? Thatll be a little challenging for a first time swap but goodluck and welcome

sideways_s12

I think it can be done if you have all the right tools and nothing but time those 2 weeks along with working on it everyday for that 2 weeks...

i found the car abandoned in a used/salvage car garage. they bought the yard few years earlier and the s200 was there and they basically inherited it. it had tons of garbage on top of it and was tacked away in a corner. i saw the front clip lights and suspected it was an s12.

the s12 was not imported to the gulf arab countries hence you cant find them here. this is the only one am aware of.  anyhow, i ended up buying it for around 2000$.

this is a pic of the car after removing the garbage piled on it.

i did basic lube service, put a new battery in and it fired like a champ !!

i left dubai and drove it all the way to muscat (around 400 klm)

not bad!  you need to beat the dust off that motor  lol  but other than nice find!

a pic of the car after "beating" some of the dust off ...

this is a 1984 nissan s12 completely stock with an auto trans. tho odometer reads 90k miles on it. it has a sunroof and everything works fine. most of the rubbers need replacement as sitting under the extreme heat of this desert area for 5 years caused a sizable damage.

awaiting the beginning of the swap :)

donor car. this is a jdm 1uz with vvti. decided to go for the newer model although connecting it might be a be a bit difficult.

This is a really cool idea, im interested to see what will need to be modified. are you going to do a manual swap? Good luck!

Looks like being buried under a pile was good for the paint! Nice find; good luck with your swap!

started to remove the engine:

first step is to fit the 1uz with its auto gear. i will swap an auto trans from an rb25 or an r154 later followed by adding a turbo charger.

then a strip of the extra weight and a roll cage and then suspension/brakes upgrades.

my aim now is to install the 1uz and get the car running and burning some tires .. :)

the car cleans up nice! good job.

Very nice!  1uzs are nice engines especially in light chassis like the 12. Good luck!

Nice to see another UZ'r....looks like your off to a good start!  I have put about 1000 miles on my 1uz swap and I'm lovin it. Though a little more power would be nice. I see yours is the vvti, which is the 3uz.  Btw, you can make the Toyota gauge cluster fit in the s12 dash and have everything working.

Still a 1UZ but 1997 and later engines got the VVT-i on it, still displaces 4L.  The 3UZ displaces 4.3L and all of them got VVT-i ;)

You are correct sir. Hence the LS430, GS430 and SC430.

The engine sits nicely further back into the bay as possible. no issues with clearing anything so far but the left manifold had to be removed. will make a custom made header for that side.

fabbing engine mounts supports were easy and so is fabbing the trans support.

Tried to fit the engine cover but its too bulky. without the cover the hood was not closing so decided to go cover-less and modify the hood a bit to create the clearance.

Hood modification is almost complete awaiting sanding and painting. i just cut a rectangular peace of the hood and raised it up by welding a sliding trim. this looks a bit like the turbo hood now :)

updates: (will attach the pics later)

- Mounts are done and the engine sits nice in the bay.

- Shaft modified and now the whole drive train is connected. used the S200 auto shifter with a tiny mod to the connecting rod.

- battery re-located to the rear boot

- all fuel lines connected including the return fuel line as am using the S200 fuel pump for now.

- I used the same S200 radiator but just added electrical fans in a temporary fix.

- Going on with ECU swap and hopefully engine will fire tonight.

Thanks
