Planted Seat Mounting system - 425 Motorsports
« on: 04:39:06 PM / 30-Oct-14 »
So, there was talk about the Planted seat brackets made by 425 Motorsports up here in Bellevue and if they were truly for the S12 chassis as advertised. I went and talked with the CEO and had a look at the bracket personally (played with it and compared it with the floor of my car to make sure) and it is indeed correct. They do have seat brackets for the S12 chassis. The link is provided. They are $140USD a side for the bracket, However, that is not the only thing you will need assuming you are using a side-mounted seat (Sparco, OMP, Status). You will also need their Side Mount Bracket, which are about $90USD each. In addition, they supply the hardware necessary for installation at $12USD a side. They are of good quality and something I am considering putting in my car (asked for a quote on a seat/bracket combo). One should expect about $252 a side if going this route.

What if you wanted a seat that isn't side mounted/ fixed back?

I personally would like a seat on sliders and has a reclining option.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should be able to bolt a set of sliders to their brackets according to FAQ # 2.

I know it can be done, But I guess what I am really worried about is the height of the seat. I want the seat to fit and also have a similar hieght as the stock seat.

Lower the better.

the problem with aftermarket vs stock seats is that big hump you see. the stock seat is built around that hump. Aftermarket seats end up sitting on top of it. If the seat you had had very little cushioning, and you put it flat against the hump, then maybe you could get close to stock seat height. The stock seat has like 2" of padding over that hump and that's it.
Hey, truck engine + truck turbo - why not?
