Hey Guys & Gals

I replaced my valve stem seals and in the process lost one half of a valve stem lock. I have called everywhere also looked online and I can find much. Some stuff seems like it may work but i can't be for sure. Anyone have any clue where to get any or what I can do to get my self rolling again?

Any help would be awesome!

Are you talking about the valve stem keepers like in this picture? If so, it may be easiest to get one from a parts engine but I can't imagine they would cost very much. The real worry is you might have lost it in the engine somewhere, hopefully not internally. Dry up any pooled oil in the cylinder head and you might get lucky and find it.

Looks like Rock Auto has them but you'll have to by 16 at a time. At least they are cheap compared to a non-running engine.

I have two cracked cylinder heads with all the internals just sitting on a shelf. The only problem is that my shelf is probably on the other side of the globe than you are. If you don't have any luck finding what you need where you live, just say the word and I'll send you whatever you need

If you dropped it in the oil pooled in the head you should be able to fish it out with a decent mechanic's magnet.  A telescoping one can be used to reach down past where it might have dropped to poke around.  I have also used larger, strong magnets to sweep over carpet and workspaces to find small screws and fallen parts.  This only works if you know roughly where you dropped it though.  Best of luck.

I was afraid all the five gallon buckets of pain stacked four high were going to fall over
