my temp gauge doesn't have a reading could it be my thermostat or wiring.?

More details please - year, digi vs analog, stock etc ...

I would discount the thermostat if you otherwise have heat. The obvious place to check would be the connection at the temp sensor. You don't say what engine you have so I can't specify where your sensor is.

its a ca20  stock analog dash haven't been able to check the connection, would i have to tare my entire dash off to check the connections.? or is there and easier way.?

Connection that goes bad is usually the plug at the motor; plastic gets brittle and falls apart. On my 85, there are two temp sensors, one for the gauge, one for the ecu. That's where I would look 1st.
