Just got done over the last couple of weeks doing completely new brakes - master, rotors, pads, hoses, the works. Took it out for a test drive this afternoon and on the way back home, literally two blocks from my house a young woman turned left right in front of me at the last second. We just started off from a stop light so neither car was moving very fast but the left quarterpanel/wheel well and bumper took a hit.
Car runs great and is the two tone super white/platinum. I'm trying to gauge interest and will post pics tomorrow before the insurance companies try to write it off as a total loss because of the low Blue Book value vs cost of repair.
I bought this car 30 years ago brand new and it has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. Very well maintained. A very sad day here folks.
I'm in Santa Rosa, CA. $2,500 or B.O.. Pick up only. I prefer not to arrange for shipping.

I can provide a bumper to whoever buys this at a fair price. Already paint matched. Good luck with sale!

Thank you. It's killing me to let her go after all these years.

Here some pics I posted awhile back in the "Posts pics of your engine bay" thread. I'll get the current pics up tomorrow.

Here's the photos. All the damage is cosmetic and the car still drives with the exception of the tire slightly rubs on the inside of the wheel well when cranked all the way. Hood was not damaged at all. Everything in the car works except for the speedo. Typical broken plastic piece where the cable connects to the gauge. I've never taken it apart or tried to fix it but on cold days you can hear the cable spinning around behind the gauges.
A/C is all original and blows as cold as when I bought the car new. It's never been recharged which amazes me. Has the good old freon before they stopped using it and came out which the new stuff in the 90's that isn't nearly as good but better for the environment.
All original, runs great, never has needed any serious work.

Well, knew it was coming - insurance calls it a total loss even though there's nothing wrong with it structurally/mechanically. I hate to see this car taken away but I can't afford to fix her myself.
First $1,500 takes it. Going once, going twice....

Why do I live in Indiana??

Because its a nice state!

Actually you can have it shipped to you. I had it quoted once from IL got GA an it was about $500 so it might be a little more form CA to IN. This way you don't have to worry about anything. They pick it up and drop it off at your door. Downside is it adds to the total price of the car. But if you really want it...

I'm with @Kelso840.
Indiana only has rust bucket S12's. It's rare enough when you find one, then it's just disappointing because it's riddled with rust holes.
I've considered trying to have one delivered from California or Texas, but I've also been considering selling my KA-T S12.
For the RIGHT model and price, I'd definitely have one shipped here. Then take it directly to get the underbody coated.

kelso840

He said he isn't interested in shipping, and I've got just enough stuff going on that I can't afford to be collecting another s12, even if it is the 5 speed SE I've yet to own and always wanted.

I understand, I just wanted to mention the shipping. I know a lot of people miss a car they like just because they don't know about the shipping companies that will pick it up for you and drop it off.

SuperWhitePlatinum

I would be open to shipping if the buyer makes all the arrangements and pays the fees. The insurance co. total loss dept. is supposed to call me today with their offer. What do you think this car is worth, equal value, 150,000 miles, no rust, strong motor, doesn't burn oil? You know they'll lowball the hell out of it.

weitrhino

Yes, they will try to lowball you. Let the adjuster leave you a few messages. Drag it out. He has a boss who will want to get the claim cleared and will inevitably lean on him. Let some internal pressure build up on the guy and then he'll be more willing to deal. Then do not let them pay out as a totaled car.  He'll offer something like 80% of a total claim as a payoff and you'll keep it. Use the cash to fix it for yourself.

Trust me.

That sounds like a good strategy.  Thanks for posting, rhino.
Should I contact my insurance company and ask them to put pressure on the other insurance company?

Damn 1500 and it's just cosmetic. I wish I had the dough I'd snatch it in heartbeat even it was to fix it and resell it... I know where you can get replacemet parts too there's a guy parting a white se

I'm still waiting on the offer from the ins. co. but I'm inclined to get as much money as I can out of them and fix it myself depending on the cost of a bumper and quarterpanel. I'm so pissed off over this because the engine runs beautifully.
