Last weekend I replaced the clutch slave cylinder on my 88 SE with a new one from AMS.
I had a bit of trouble as it seemed difficult to fit the new cylinder into place. I had to pry back the clutch fork a few millimeters to get both bolt holes to line up, even though it appeared to be the exact same length as the old one, the pushrod looked to be the same length, etc. When I got it together it seemed like it wasn't allowing the clutch fork to fully retract, even with the piston bottoming out in the slave cylinder.
Sure enough, I had it out today and the clutch is slipping under heavy load in high gears. So it seems like the clutch plate is not fully engaging with its full spring pressure.
This is the part I used. What do you guys think? Try another cylinder? Shave the pushrod?
