no sound from speakers
« on: 01:41:14 PM / 02-Apr-22 »
Is there a fuse or relay that would affect the speakers?  Drove the S-12 today and there's no sound.  Was fine a week ago.  Radio is powered and working...just no sound.  TIA.

Using original speakers or wiring? Have you tried all sound sources - am/fm/cd etc?
S12  year, hatch or notch?

Original wiring, replaced hatch speakers.  No sound regardless of source.  86 XE hatch, 2.0.

Doubt there's an oem fuse for speakers as they are not on a power source. I would be looking at your radio as the primary problem - check your manual for any kind of reset or maybe it switched itself to some other external speaker setting? Or maybe amp output has failed.  What's the Pioneer model number? How long has it been working?

Some radios have a mute button, see if that's the case, otherwise see rednucleus's reply.

Appreciate all the replies and suggestions.  Turned out to be an exposed wire near one of the rear speaker towers in the hatch.  It apparently didn't like the fact that it was naked and sitting on another piece of metal.  Confused why that caused no sound at all instead of static but rewrapping and resetting it seemed to be the fix.  Strange.
