dissipating heat

okay, the weather is getting really good now..and it\'s getting really hot now too.

I\'m not sure that that lil grille and the lil opening in the bumper is sufficient cooling so I was thinking of puting some washers  at my hood latches so my hood can let out heat better.

does this actually work well or am I just wasting my time?

if you can\'t picture it...

i dont think you have anything to worry about the temperature. I can GUARENTEE to you that I have the worst weather.  100degrees + everyday AND its almost 100% humidity also. This is AWFUL. I can sweat going out to get my mail. Here is what I ahve done to help dissapate heat. I removed the brush guard on the bottom side of the engine so that the air gets under the car. I re-installed the heat shields in the engine manifold so that it actually disspates. and right now I am running without my front end on while I work on the skyline front. Plus, I flushed out my radiator and gave it a GOOD 50/50 mixture so its really getting the cooling it needs. I dont think you should have a problem with head and ppl will just ask you if you mashed your hook in. If you want venting, get a hood scoop or something that REALLY does its job.

I have read about the theory behind having the raised hood, and since the turbo makes a LOT of heat onthe back end anyway it couldnt hurt. But it does look like you just forgot your ratchet in the fender when you closed the hood or something.

You can do like FF and just take the hood right off. :honda:

It\'s a waste of time.  If your cooling system is working as it should be then you don\'t need any scoop, vent ot push-up hood.

I have never had any cooling problems with the car since i\'ve owned it(14 years), and the gauge never moves from where it should, but about a year ago I raised up the hood for venting off excess heat.  If anything, it just helps the surfaces under the hood stay a touch cooler.  When I let the car idle, and when the electric fan kicks on, if I put my hand up by the windshield I can feel hot air rushing out.  Performance wise or internal cooling temp wise I doubt it makes a difference.
