CA manuel gearboxs, are they all the same?

Hey guyz,
I have a friend stickn a CA18DET into his Mk1 Ford Escort,
Now his Manuel Transmission has-
CA71B
stamped on it.
Now do all CA engined cars have the same gearbox,
or will say a CA20E Manual Tranny bolt up to a CA18DET or FJ20ET??
Do all S12 trannies have CA _ _ B or A ??????

fj\'s use a 71 series box too, but the ca/fj/sr bell housings are not interchangable. i think mine reads rp71c if i remember correctly...

I currently have a CA20E manual and i think its the b version. This is bolted to the back of my CADET.
How long it will last we will soon findout  :bomb:

I dont know about the gearbox problem but MK1 escorts are cool. Ive had a few of them in the past and loved them.

the MK1 box is diffrent to the MK2. the MK2 is the strongest out of the 2 its also the biggest.
