Great run guys!  It\'s kind of sad though that with all that horsepower, we\'re still limited to 130mph. We need taller 5th gears in these things. :p

Hey, I think I\'ve been in that car before..

As I recall he drove like a maniac then, too.

j/k one_equals_two, nice work.  Was that vid taken on I-40?  Seems like a lot of people go 100+ going through the Oak Ridge area.  I know I went through there at 105 one time when I got behind a Camry that was going that speed.  Well after all there is a lot of radioactive stuff around there.......

what\'s worse than the radioactivity is the damn pollution from the coal plant in kingston.  i went to tn last december and some mornings it was black outside from all the smog coming off the stacks.  oh and it also doesn\'t help that they put the plant smack dab in a valley where all the smog collects.

I\'ve never heard of this guy, \"one_equals_two\", nor his car... but then again I\'ve been away for awhile... SO-- someone actually got off their arse and installed an S-AFC in an S12? I guess he tunes this with wide band 02 or something if I recall what Bart said the other day.

So what\'s wrong with going with that setup? What kinda power figures is he getting with this? I guess this is the western hemisphere answer to that red S12 in the UK with the \"rainbow\" manifold, T3, and bosch FI that had 300hp or something like that.

This is the whole intent of the Tuning Ethics thread I wrote long, long ago. It HAS to take into account everything I put there.

well theres really no wrong with this other then you take a chance of the car detenating cause of bad tuning, buts thats what can happen with any car u use a s-afc on. Well since you will be able to change to larger injectors, and get a larger maf(z31, z32, s13) the power limits are only limited by the strengh of the internals unless you build the motor up, im guessing with stock internals 225-250whp is attainable

That car in the UK made 250whp ... on a remapped Peugot ECU. He went with the Pug, because they use the same Bosch FI setup we do (Jetronic)

Now, let\'s also not forget a) this was a magazine article, and b) they even mention in the article that a few ca18ets blew apart for this project.

IMHO MrBob\'s adaptor is a much better solution than that weirdo rainbow manifold. At least the factory manifold has more equal exhaust pulses rather than trying to fill a giant metal U, then spool a big turbo.

I\'m also curious as to where this arbitrary \"230-250 whp\" that our internals will handle came from. I have yet to see a ca18et come apart from too much power. Too much boost and not enough fuel totally, horrible maintenance, or 300,000+ mile motors giving up ... but never a power breakage.

I don\'t really see why everyone gets their panties in a twist over tuning.

Yes tuning is very important. And sure, you can spend 11 hours on the dyno at $50 an hour to make 3 more hp than when you came in.

Or you can baseline it and tune by what information you need and spend your time driving.

For a very simple bolt on solution, Mr Bob and one_equals_two have made probably the best leap forward on this board.

At 1Bar that T3 is just starting to do its job. Give it another 1/2 and if the motor takes it, this car will fly.

Or swap out the 4:11 gears for something numerically smaller, like 3:72 or maybe even 3:55\'s.  Would that also increase the top spead of our cars, they may not get off the line as quick though.
