Well after searching extensively throughout the net and on here as well I have learned quite a bit about S12\'s. I will be driving mine doing mostly body work on it, replacing the quarters and repainting it flat black. Getting suspension in order as well as a decent set of 15s. I am just wondering as far as work, getting parts afterwards and initial cost...what would be the easiest swap and why, as I am looking to start the swap project come this fall. Thanks.

CA18et or SR20det are the probably the easiest swaps

Well, there\'s really a bunch of swaps that are pretty close in terms of easiest.  I would say that the easiest is gonna be the CA18DET.  It uses the stock motor mounts, can bolt up to your stock tranny if need be, and I think it\'ll even use the stock driveshaft and tranny mount (not 100% sure on that though).

Then there\'s the SR20 and the KA, which I would say are about even because you still have the same amount of wiring, and they both use the same motor mounts.

And, if you\'re talking about any swap into a CA20 car, then the CA18ET would probably be hands down the easiest.  Direct bolt in replacement, just get the wiring harness and ecu, you\'ll have to do a little bit of rewiring, but nothing major.

And there\'s also the VG30E, which might be a pain unless you find an S12 SE in the junkyard, as they have a crossmember and oil pan that is specific to the S12 VG.

So all in all, I would say the CA18ET is the easiest, followed closely by the CA18DET.

ca18et is easiest then
ca18det
vg303
fj20et

Well it is slowly looking like the 18ET is the way to go then huh. I have seen and read about some decent numbers from this little motor as well. At least I was impressed anyways, thanks for all your input.

ya the ca18et is way under appreciated.. every body thinks that the dohc is the way to go t attain some nice hp #\'s.... but thats not true at all and i think i have been doing a good job at proving that right... within a few months i should have a 300-375 sohc monster prowling the roads...

Amazing, a good friend of mine has a 6th gen Civic identical to mine, using the SOHC D16Y7 and he eats B16\'s all day long. He is running a modified Edelbrock kit. SOHC in general I think are underestimated when it comes to performance. Those are some impressive numbers for sure Bart what are you running turbo and management wise??

Joel07

SOHC\'s are definetly underrated in turbo form.  People don\'t understand that huge ports and valves aren\'t needed when you\'re turbo\'d.  When you get into the ultra-high race stuff it does, but for street applications, there\'s not much difference.  There\'s a lot of SOHC KA guys making close to 400 whp on mild setups, and there\'s pioneers like Bart running 13.3\'s on a bone stock long block with the little CA...  Bart\'s my hero...
