Man, no offense, but please just build up the CA18ET!!!  It\'ll make more power than you need being an inexperienced driver.  Plus, it\'ll be a whole lot easier than trying to do a swap right off the bat.  That\'s just my opinion, but I know that I as a 14 year old would have had a lot of trouble doing an SR20 swap.  My suggestion is to start gathering up some bolt-on parts for the CA18ET, and once you have maxed that combo out, then think about the SR20.

But that\'s just my opinion...

Unless you have the SR already send your CA18 to be ported and polished since you already have it out urgrade as much as you want right now youll be much happier in the long run.

mate a SR20DET in a S12 is a very tail happy car! i have been driving since i was 16, i am 20 now (21 in september), i have had my CA18DET S12 on the road for 5000km\'s and let me tell you, they are dangerous cars with alot of power

the CA18ET will be more than enuff to get you into trouble when u start driving, then do what these blokes are saying, just build the CA18ET, fit a cooler, T25, port n pollish, maybe a cam, and you got a fast little car that will certainly scare you enuff as a young driver.

Not saying i know it all, as i got plenty to learn still, but take it from me, someone who has done a DET conversion.....wait till you got some driver skill, as they are a dam skatey car with some twincam turbo power :)

go the ca18et first, have some fun, get some experience, and in that time you\'ll have saved up for a DET conversion, and be ready for it.
